Great brush for Maine Coon
Got this for our Maine Coon because I needed something that would loosen up any mats or debris (wide tooth) and then detangle the rest (fine tooth) without cutting and ripping out his glorious undercoat like a furminator type of brush does. Originally I purchased a smaller cat comb of similar design but our "kitten" quickly went from 4lbs to nearly 11lbs in about 3 months. So I needed something larger. This comb has been perfect.Once a week I do a quick pass through with the wide tooth side to loosen the big tangles and pull out debris (his coat is velcro I swear) then a more careful brushing with the fine tooth side to fully remove any tangles and he poof he is good to go.Please note: this is not a flea comb, do not purchase it for that. Also, as someone that has been there and done that, trying to brush a long haired cat or a cat with a thick coat with a flea comb is not only ineffective but usually painful to the cat because the comb gets "stuck" too easy due to the super close teeth. So, if you have fleas, I'd really recommend attacking the source of infestation rather than trying to hunt the little buggers down one at a time off your cat. Just my two cents...

1-1/8" pins work well on a Samoyed
I bought this double-sided comb to groom a Samoyed. The pins on the comb would be described as "fine" and "medium" for most brands - definitely not for flea and flea dirt removal (which is evident from the product photo). I love being able to switch from fine to medium by simply turning the handle. The comb measures 8" from end-to-end - soft purple plastic handle is 4-1/4", the pins make up 3-7/8"; pins are all 1-1/8" long.I use this all over the dog but found I like it best to comb through feathering on the backs of front legs and the hocks where I don't need to comb through a wide swath of coat. The 3-7/8" width also makes it easy to comb the top of the head and around the face without catching the longer fur of the ruff.I was worried the plastic handle would wear quickly but I've had the comb for a about a month now and it still looks brand new despite my tendency to grip the comb very tightly.***Edited to add***The "fine" side of the comb works well on my Maine Coon cat. He's shedding and a quick combing keeps a ton of his fur from floating around the house.

Very Nice but...
I have 3 longhaired cats and a golden and I major arthritis in my hands. This comb is a dream come true ergonomically and the tips of the comb are perfect. I've had combs where the teeth are too round and they don't go down into the undercoat. This is fairly sturdy and the 2 widths are much needed at my house. Sadly, after 3 years it did break when trying to remove a mat. It could use a metal shaft vs a plastic one and it'd last a life time. Mine had a LOT OF WEAR AND TEAR to reach the breaking point though I read where someone else's broke immediately. Came came here to edit this review after having originally giving it a 5 star review.

Amazing
My cat had multiple spots of matted fur when I purchased this comb. Not only was it able to get those out, it also took out a LOT of undercoat that was loose. The photo attached is after 10 minutes of combing him last night. I'm hoping that with regular combing, his skill will feel less irritated and the dandruff will go down.I have to say, this comb is amazing. I LOVE that it has two different sizes. I had to use both to get the maximum effect for my boy. And the handle is very comfortable. I specifically wanted a comb that didn't have the typical comb shape. This did the trick! I would absolutely recommend and would buy again.

Works very well!
Excellent comb - I have a Havanese/poodle and a Shih-Zhu/Bichon and it gets through knots and leaves their coats nice and soft. I love the dual sides and that one has thinner/tighter tines so you can get the coat smoother. I do still use a flea comb to get their eyes/faces but this comb is great all over their little fluffy bodies!! Love it!

not a flea comb
This product is fine as a comb and is good for untangling pet's hair. But be aware it is NOT a flea comb as it is described because the tines in the comb are spaced too far apart for combing out fleas.
