The connection experiences no faults and discs are read as soon as they are inserted. I did not use it to burn any CDs/DVDs as I only needed it to read discs. One of the reasons why I chose this type of drive compared to those with only a slit to insert the disc is because, if anything were to happen the disc can be pulled out much more easily compared to drives with a slit which require dismantling to retrieve a stuck disc.
