Writing AI Prompts For Dummies

Very informative.

It’s more about explaining what AI is and the different kinds of AI out there. Some prompting instructions but a bit lacking…it was a some section of the book. Still a foundation for learning what AI is all about…so the title of the book is a bit “off” IMO.

I know this is for people like me who aren't very smart, but overall, they're really good.

I have not purchased a "For Dummies" book in quite some time, thus I cannot compare with others unless going back at least ten years. The quality of the published product has really gone down. Sub quality cover, almost newsprint weight pages, and the images are difficult to make out. The images in this book are mostly on-screen images as examples. The print quality is so poor, that reading what is in the image is next to impossible. I've not read he content, as this review is just after opening delivery.

For a book entitled "Writing AI Prompts for Dummies" I would have expected more information on writing prompts. Or coding in an app to enable prompting to gather information. But it reads like a book selling the capabilities of AI. And form an editor's point of view, feels like Ai might have written a lot of this book. There's a lot of repetition that hasn't been edited out, and a lot of generic content.If you don't know much about generate Ai and the apps that are available with it, it will be helpful. But if you are looking for nitty gritty information, this isn't the book.I'm glad I got it from the library instead of paying money for it.

This 2024 guide has great scope and advice. Because co-author Stephanie Diamond is a marketing professional there is an emphasis on commercial aspects and applications. Personally, I found the advice mostly generic and would have appreciated more concrete or explicit examples of prompts and perhaps the consequences of prompting poorly. On the positive side, we are introduced to a wide range of useful AI-related facilities, and the text is very up-to-date in what is a rapidly changing and somewhat bewildering field.
