Yes, the reviews were good, but I was concerned that it might be problematic to use. It came neatly packaged and it felt heavy and well-made. I read the instructions carefully--there was the printed one with the floppy drive and another tip sheet. It explained things pretty well, keeping in mind I've had a PC since 1989 and am pretty tech savvy, but not an expert by any means. I put my old floppy disc in the drive as instructed and then I plugged it into a USB slot on my ASUS laptop running Windows 11. I went into Windows Explorer and the drive showed up right away as "Floppy Drive". I clicked on it and it opened right away in my MS Word program. It was all fast, but I think it was an older version of Word than I currently have (I have a MS 365 subscription so maybe that opened with a compatibility program?). Right on my monitor was a 15 page document that a relative had made of an oral interview with my dad's first cousin on our family history. The report was done in 1987. I immediately saved it to my computer and then uploaded it to Ancestry.com. I could not have asked for this little $15 floppy drive to work any better! Heck, it worked WAY better than the floppy disk drive on my old Gateway Computer did back in the 1990's! I found a few more old floppy disks and was able to look at some old photos I had taken and some other Word Documents. A couple of disks had some email files on them, but I didn't try to open them, so not sure how that file format would have been. Before I retired my last computer that had a floppy drive, I had saved files and photos, but I was not able to find the 15 page family history anywhere and so I am so happy to have this great little tool!

The capacity obviously can’t compare to modern drives, but that’s part of the charm. It has a very difficult time reading discs that are over 20 years old. I know the discs are still good and were well stored. You just need to pop the disc out and put it back in quickly and hit retry. There’s a good chance it will work. A pain to have to do a lot of times. Better than the alternative of never getting the data.

I recently set about to clean my home office and found a stack of floppy disks. Because inquiring minds want to know, I didn't want to discard them w/o knowing what was on them. My search for a solution led me to this floppy disc reader.It worked better than advertised. It was easy to connect. The file explorer led me to the drive option. Following a couple of clicks, my saved data was available.Not only did I find some of my old work, but also some of my mother's documents and recipes. She has passed away, so this was a real treasure!

I bought this reader to make backups of floppies that I use with my old synthesizer as well as others I used with an 80s Macintosh SE. But the disks (no matter which one) do not read at all. And it's not an issue with the disk because they read fine when in their respective devices.Doesn't do its job and I'm returning this immediately.

I was able to recover some wonderful, long-lost images from Konica picture floppies and a Kodak picture disk. Back in the day, before digital photos on cell phones, you would get film developed and stored on floppy disks. Unfortunately, most of my disks were unreadable, likely due to poor storage over the years.This technology is quite primitive, and it takes a long time to load the files. To view them, you have to right-click and select "Open." The only issue I encountered was that I had to unplug the drive every time I inserted a new disk because it retained the previous file contents in some memory cache.I only managed to use three disks, but the recovered memories were well worth the money.Also, I had to download a program called XnView in order to view the photos because of the proprietary format.

My experience is very good with this product. I got it today and went rite to work viewing the content on 3.5 floppy disks. My windows 10 pc found it as soon as I plugged it in and I was able to view 20 disks without any problems. Happily surprised!!
