## Description

desertcart.com: Keychron V6 Max Wireless Custom Mechanical Keyboard, 2.4 GHz Bluetooth QMK Full-Size Layout RGB with Hot-swappable Gateron Banana Switch Compatible with Mac Windows Linux : Video Games

Review: Crazy good! - I’m new to the mechanical keyboard world so I was very overwhelmed when I started looking at all the various options and trying to figure out the terminology as well as how the different switches feel and sound. This keyboard was for my wife who types a lot and really wanted a keyboard that was going to be closer to the experience of typing on an old school typewriter with heavier tactile key presses and the clack of the keys. She also wanted a keyboard that was full sized since that is what she is already so used to. The Keychron V6 Max with Gateron Banana Switches checked all the boxes, but I was still hesitant simply because I’ve always bought the simple and cheap keyboards like Logitech’s MK series which you get a keyboard AND a mouse for $30-50. Spending $120 on just a keyboard seemed downright outrageous. That is until I had this keyboard in my hands. Not only did it check all the required boxes, but once I got my hands on the keyboard it created new checkboxes that are now requirements for any keyboard that comes after. Pros: Insane build quality Incredible sound and feel Easy to customize Excellent web-based software Great connectivity options Fantastic battery life Bright backlight with lots of RGB customizations Extremely responsive Excellent value for the money Cons: Not buying this sooner I joke, but seriously I currently have no cons, fantastic product!
Review: Good budget keyboard for gaming and typing (banana switches) - Background: This is only my second keyboard since I started gaming. My first was a Razer Black Widow, which lasted over eight years. When it finally needed to retire, I decided to try something new. Keychron came highly recommended by my friends, and I chose the V6 Max because I’m a sucker for a numpad and extra keys—especially useful when gaming. I picked the V6 Max specifically for its full-size layout. I love having the numpad and extra keys for added functionality. The color scheme is basic but clean, giving it a nice minimalist look. I prefer using a wired connection over Bluetooth, so I haven’t tested the wireless feature yet—but I’ll update this review if I do. I went with the Banana switches, and the feel is very different from the Razer Green switches I was used to. They’re lightly tactile and produce a somewhat hollow sound when pressed. I'm not entirely used to the feel or sound yet, but that’s likely just because this is only my second mechanical keyboard. Still, the typing experience is smooth and satisfying. If you like a lighter actuation force, Banana switches are a solid choice. If you want more versatility for both typing and gaming, the Brown switches might be a better option. The keys have a nice texture—smooth but with just enough friction to prevent accidental slips. Even though I’m still adjusting to the feel, my typing remains accurate and fairly fast. I usually type at 120 WPM, and with this keyboard, I average around 105–110 WPM. As for gaming, the keyboard performs well. I’ve had no issues with responsiveness or functionality. I do prefer a more clicky switch for gaming, but that’s just a personal preference—the Banana switches still hold up well. If you like a softer, hollow-sounding switch that’s not too loud or too quiet, I’d recommend giving these a try. The RGB backlighting is fully customizable via the web or through QMK/VIA. It’s a cool aesthetic feature, though the lighting doesn’t shine through the keycaps, so it doesn’t help much with visibility in low light. There are also plenty of other customization options, including keybinding, firmware updates, key testing, snap action, key bouncing, etc. TLDR: Overall I give it a solid 5 stars as it's a good bang for your bucks. You are given a nice minimalist design with fully customizable RGB and key mapping. The Banana Switches offer a smooth tactile feeling to it with a hollow a sound, which makes it satisfying to hear, but not too loud. I have not tested out it's Bluetooth functionality because I prefer wired over it, but I will update my review if I ever use it.

## Features

- 108 Keys Upgraded Wireless Keyboard: The V6 Max is a QMK custom mechanical keyboard with 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth 5.1 wireless connection. It has a full-size 100% layout, gasket design, sound-absorbing foam, double-shot PBT keycaps, and more that are designed for enhanced typing comfort.
- 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth Connection: The 2.4 GHz wireless and wired connection boasts a rapid 1000 Hz polling rate. You can also connect the V6 Max with up to 3 devices via a stable Bluetooth 5.1 for seamless multitasking on both Mac and Windows.
- Remap with Keychron web app: Simply connect the V6 Max to your device with a cable, open the Keychron Launcher web app, drag and drop your favorite keys or macro commands to remap any key on any system (macOS, Windows, or Linux) for a fluid workflow. Or create your keymap with open-sourced QMK firmware.
- Hot-swap Any Switch You Want: The banana switch provides an early tactile bump at the top with a uniquely smooth experience like those Panda switches on the market. You can also hot-swap the V6 Max with almost all of the 3pin and 5pin MX mechanical switches on the market (including Cherry, Gateron, Kailh, Panda, etc.) without soldering required. The PCB-mounted screw-in stabilizer for “big keys” such as space bar, shift, enter, and delete are designed for less wobbliness and smooth performance.
- PBT Keycaps & South-facing Backlit: Our unique OSA profile double-shot non-backlight shine through PBT keycaps will provide excellent oil resistance, enhance the type feel, and prevent the legends from fading out. You can also adjust the hue, saturation, brightness, effect speed, and different modes on the south-facing RGB with combination keys.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Overall, this ended up being the perfect board for me. and I don't regret buying it one bit.
*by E***E on February 7, 2026*

This thing is my favorite part of my setup. I immediately changed out the keycaps, which was super easy to do. The added buttons above the number pad have been great for macros. It's sound is nice and thocky. Not the creamiest I've heard, but it is up there. It's perfect though with all of the extra features you get. The build is nice and quality with the right amount of weight and good feel. The web app that allows you to adjust lighting and function is super easy to use. Updating the firmware was much easier than it has been for other boards I've tried (alua especially). The multi-function has been a life saver!! No more using multiple boards between work and gaming. I just have it connected to my work dock via USB C, then wireless for my PC. (I intend to switch those when I get the chance). Overall, this ended up being the perfect board for me. and I don't regret buying it one bit.
