A Truly Superior Smart Lock Experience
Let me tell you, I've used a lot of smart locks over the years, and in my experience, the Aqara Smart Lock U200 is in a league of its own. From its sleek silver design to its seamless integration with just about every smart platform out there—Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, and SmartThings—this lock has it all.One of the standout features for me is the fingerprint keypad. It's not just about the added convenience, but the responsiveness. I remember one chilly morning when I was juggling a coffee cup and some groceries. The last thing I wanted to do was fumble for keys. With a swift touch, the U200 had me inside and warming up in no time. It's these moments that really elevate a smart lock from good to must-have.Plus, the inclusion of the Apple Home Key feels like they went the extra mile. If you're an Apple user like I am, you'll appreciate the fluid integration that doesn't miss a beat. Battery life has always been a concern for me with smart locks. However, the rechargeable battery of the U200 holds up impressively well under regular use. Come to think of it, it's actually been a few weeks before I last thought about recharging. What really seals the deal is that it supports Matter over Thread, which is proving to be the backbone of smart home future-proofing. I tend to think it's worth investing in tech that won't become obsolete too soon, and the U200 fits that bill perfectly.Overall, if you're in the market for a smart lock that combines functionality with future-facing technology, the Aqara Smart Lock U200 makes a compelling choice. It's the kind of smart home hardware you miss when you don’t have it.

Great Features, Some Setup Hiccups, but Best UK Option
I'm giving the Aqara Smart Lock U200 4 stars. After having two Nukis in a row, I got frustrated with both the pricing of accessories and the slow response to software issues. While this lock has had its issues—setting up with Matter can be frustrating and I've seen others on forums having similar problems—the key is to properly follow the setup instructions from power on, especially holding the set button. It takes a while but does eventually get there.I run this on a Matter network with an Apple TV 4K and Home Assistant, and it works great. The software is actively being worked on, though it still feels slightly beta-like. There are a few features you miss with just a Matter setup without the Aqara hub, which is mentioned in the description, so double-check that you have what you need.In day-to-day use, the wife approval is high. The keypad, fingerprint, and HomeKey (which I love) all work flawlessly, with the fingerprint being the winner. The upcoming iOS 18 update this autumn adds Apple Home guest HomeKeys, which is a cherry on top.Overall, even though this smart lock has a few software updates to go before reaching its peak, it's without a doubt the best on the market for the UK. Until we get a solid option to handle multipoint locks, this is unquestionably the best UK option.

Apple Home Key functionality completely gone
Apple Home Key functionality completely gone since the V80 firmware update. It is working for 1-2 days then not working anymore. The Manufacturer support is useless. If you want to use it with the App it is not better either, need to recalibrate every few days. It is a very poor quality product I can’t recommend it

best smart lock
There are some important factors I consider when buying smart products (whether it's a camera, doorbell, lock, etc.):No subscription requiredApple Home supportNo need for additional accessories (like a keypad, fingerprint reader, or hub)It should look goodReasonably pricedThis product meets all of these criteria.Installation:I've installed several smart locks before, and this is one of the easiest and quickest ones I’ve worked with. If you have trouble, you can watch the official guide or a video from YouTubers. It only took me 5 minutes to install.Setup:If you're an Apple user and plan to use it with the Home app, it’s crucial to add the lock to the Home app first, then to the Aqara app. If you don’t, you won’t be able to use the remote lock features, as those require the Aqara hub. Once it’s added to the Home app, you can lock and unlock it remotely. After adding it to the Aqara app, you’ll need to adjust a few settings, like calibration (make sure to auto-calibrate), latch mode (based on your door type), as well as the speed and sound of the lock. The only downside, which isn’t Aqara’s fault, is that in the Apple Home app, you can only lock or unlock the door. There's no option to retract the latch when the door is unlocked. This is due to a limitation in Apple’s system, but there are rumors that Apple will update this feature soon.

Not yet ready
I have a lot of Aqara kit and always found it reliable and easy to use. The lock itself was not tricky to install and when it works it is great but it just seems to lose its calibration and get itself in a muddle far too often saying it is locked when it is not, or the keypad will beep and accept a fingerprint but the lock does nothing. I've managed to lock myself out because it became unresponsive. It is also impossible to pair with the M3 hub. It worked once but after resetting everything and installing from scratch again it now fails to pair every time (and that includes resetting the M3 too) Installation may take 5 mins but you will be pulling your hair out for hours (and days) trying to get it all working as it should. It is a nice design, seems sturdy in terms of build but not yet ready for mass market.

Wow....
I have to say that I am impressed. The instructions are not the best, but i got there in the end, and boy is it fast acting. I would recommend this product, but be aware that it's not a 5 min installation.
