The best Value vs Quality balance I've found
I'm now on my 2nd box of these, I'm pretty fussy with my coffee but the recent cost of pods had me looking for a compromise so I took a punt on these and I'm pretty happy that I did. Like for like with the genuine Lavazza pods then the Lavazza (Passionalle) wins but it's one of those things that you get used to the 'new' flavour and doesn't matter too much just as I got used to the Lavazza flavour. The strength is perhaps its weakness (pun intended) as it's not quite strong enough for me as a lungo (larger cup) or americano so I had to set my machine to provide a smaller amount of water and it makes great Cappuccino now, the flavour is not bitter so it also makes a nice black coffee. As much as I would love to afford genuine Lavazza I just don't think they are worth the money compared to these, best way I can put it is: Scale of 1 to 10: Flavour: Lavazza 9/10 - Amorcaffe 7.5/10 Strength: Lavazza (Passionalle) 9/10 - Amorcaffe Intenso 8/10 Smoothness: Lavazza 9/10 - Amorcaffe 9/10 Value: Lavazza 6.5/10 - Amorcaffe 9/10 Obviously it's just my opinion but highlights why I am now buying Amorcaffe over Lavazza. Another way is; the price is more like 'Saver' range stuff in supermarkets BUT they are far from 'Saver' in quality, and I seriously hate 'Saver' range stuff as the quality is always much worse, these are good quality but not excellent quality if that makes sense? On the pod quality, I haven't had a single duff one in the first box of 100 and I can tell no difference between these and Lavazza and they seem to produce the same excess water in the used pod tray. If you're looking for a significant cost saving then these are surely worth a punt.

Good coffee - but...
These capsules work perfectly with the Lavaza A Modo Mio machine which is more than can be said for the compostable ones from Lavazza. I normally use the lavazza lungo dolce blend and find the Intenso a little strong and slightly bitter for my taste. The price is the real bonus, these are only half the price of the originals and if these guys introduce a range of blends to cater for other tastes, they will be on a winner. Update Nov.21. The capsules now have a plastic film top and seem to flow faster than the foil-topped ones I have had before. The coffee tastes the same but I can't leave the machine as the new capsules allow the cup to overflow before the machine stops. A minor but annoying problem! Updated 01/09/2022 I have used these capsules for a number of years and am very happy with the quality of the coffee. The capsule top has been changed again and is now paper, this swells during use and causes it to it stick in my machine and I have to free it with a fork handle or similar. Please go back to metal or plastic foil!

A great budget-friendly alternative.
These are exactly as described. They fit my A Modo Mio machine well, and it comfortably dispenses coffee from them. They definitely are decent coffee, but they also are not the Lavazza branded coffee. I weighed a couple of the pods and they were 2-3G lighter than Lavazza- the plastic is visually thinner and I imagine there is a tiny amount less coffee. To me they tasted good, they are a little weak initially, with a very bitter crema, but further down the flavour sweetens and the strength comes through. It’s different to every Lavazza branded coffee I’ve tasted, and that is a subtle lower intensity at the beginning. They also make for a good longer coffee drink, mixing well with frothed and cold milk. The value makes them attractive although they are by no means low priced compared to Lavazza pods in a deal- the slight difference in using these makes the Lavazza pods feel more special also. I would buy again as they are a good luxury daily coffee. I wouldn’t if the price went up or the quality dropped.

A cost-effective alternative to Lavazza capsules for A Modo Mio machines
I love Lavazza Qualita Rossa coffee. It just seems to tick my personal flavour boxes. It was a tough choice between a nespresso machine and one of the Lavazza A Modo Mio machines, but I’d heard the Lavazza machines were much better quality (more coffee in the capsule). So I went for the Lavazza machine. The downside is that the choice of capsules is much more restricted than for Nespresso machines. I was therefore pleased to see these 3rd party capsules for the Lavazza machine, of Italian origin. The most obvious benefit is the cost; around 16p per capsule compared to 25p plus for the Lavazza capsules. But this would be irrelevant if the flavour was poor or the capsules din’t work. Well, for me, the flavour is almost as good as Lavazza Qualita Rossa, but not quite. The Amorcaffe coffee has a slightly earthier flavour. That is a subjective view however; in terms of strength and fullness of flavour, they compete very well with Lavazza. The capsules work very well in the machine and I’ve not experienced any problems. I don’t think they’re compostable like the Lavazza ones, but the Lavazza capsules require an industrial composting process, as available via a food waste collection, and we don’t have that in our area, so I’m afraid my capsules go in the regular bin anyway. (We only use the machine occasionally, when it’s not worth brewing a full pot). In summary, I’ll definitely re-order when these have run out.

Not good for SMEG
Nice coffee and great value if your machine likes them - unfortunately my SMEG machine does not. Only about one in four work correctly, the rest just jam somehow and no water comes through. Could probably fish out the spent pod and try again but it just gets annoying. Shame, but to repeat, these are excellent if your machine likes them.
