Since I started purchasing these about a year ago, I haven't had a cold or other illness progress past the early tickles, except one time. The one time I did have it progress, I stopped taking them too soon and didn't start taking them again when I felt the congestion begin again. I've taken these for illnesses I've felt begin in the throat and for ones that begin in the nose. Like another reviewer, I have asthma but I also have an autoimmune disease. The asthma makes me end up having bronchitis or pneumonia pretty much every time I pick up someone's "sniffles" (or worse). After that progresses, my body starts attacking itself and things go downhill quick. This herbal blend has worked well for me as an anti-viral. I have even taken it when exposed to sick people. As a homeschooling mom, I seem to pick up everything my kids get. This in combination with keeping my vitamin D levels up, taking vitamin C, and taking care to eat well have been a great combination to keep my body well and help keep my immune system from running wild. Since the dose is 4 pills 3 times per day, you will go through a bottle fast, especially if multiple family members are using this. There is a 500 economy pack. I try to quickly swallow these but even though there isn't black licorice, I get a bit of that kind of taste in my mouth but I resolve that quickly with several more big swallows of water after I swallow these.

I'm big on prevention. My acupuncturists sings the praises of this formula all the time. It does work. One does have to take it early on in a respiratory episode. However, it has been my experience that at some point you get the cold anyway. It maybe weeks later but destiny says, "She hasn't had her fall cold yet. Let's fix that." It is a good formula to deflect the inevitable for a while and that's worth it.
