Duets II: The Great Performances DVD [2012]

Like all the artists duetting with Tony on this disc, I love his voice and his handling of the music. It seems that Tony's favoured arranger, George Calandrelli, has got to his soul and writes the music perfectly to complement the voice.The tunes are all nice, although not terribly challenging for all of the singers but what could you write for Lady Gaga?All in all, I really do like this and enjoyed the experience. Its let down slightly by only having a PCM audio track as opposed to the better DTS Master of other Blu Rays but you can't fault it otherwise. Some artists are better than others but, in the absence of Sinatra, its to be expected. I'm glad I invested.

I saw the performance of this CD on TV which is why I ordered the music. Fabulous tracks and the amazing voice and passion of Tony Bennett at the ripe old age of 85 is heart lifting. Well chosen artists, many of whom I already love - I have so far not tired of this wonderful music and am a very new fan of Mr Bennett. I also ordered the first Duets album....also well worth owning although I do prefer Duets 11

Another fantastic music video by the great Tony Bennett with a wide variety of partners and no obvious weak links. The new main man, Michael Buble obviously stars but Lady Gaga is the highlight for me. Quality and obvious poignancy from Amy Winehouse. Absolutely love this recording, and only takes second place in our music DVD collection to the last Tony Bennett DVD we bought - Bennett An American Classic, which is simply wonderful and so much fun. Saw him for the first time at the ALbert Hall last month and didn't stop smiling from start to finish. Forget age, he does it right!

This was a present and the recipient loved it. Very well produced with brilliant music. You would not believe Mr Bennett is in his eighties, he still has the voice. Especially poignant was seeing Amy Whinehouse. The recipient will be getting the first dvd of these duets for Christmas and this was such a hit.

How do you describe a genius of this class! This man, Tony Bennett, has quality beyond reach. I am almost his age and have many great singing performers in my libraries , but this fellow has been top of my 'league table' forever. I am very much into music and can say, without contradiction, what Tony does to any song he is rendering, is to take it, sing it with his effortless gifted style and put a lump in my throat......and not many singers do that for me!I enjoyed every track and guest on this DVD, my favourites being Willie Nelson, Josh Groban and Aretha Franklin, but ten out of ten also also to the others. Thank you Tony and if you are ever in the Glasgow area.................!!

I have this already on my recorded sky box & its absolutely brilliant. I bought the DVD for my dad's birthday as we both just love Tony Bennet. Well worth the money, great music, terrific duets. A great buy

Brilliant album! His guests on these duets have shown what they can do outside of their own music. It was a joy to listen to. Not normally a Tony Bennett fan as I'm only a youngster at 54 lol but loved it straight away, he certainly has still got "it"!!

Il voto che assegno al supporto Blu-Ray Tony Bennett - Duets II - The Great Performances è il risultato di una pessima edizione che vede un'eccellente raccolta musicale maltrattata al punto tale da non trovare delle semplici feature che non dovrebbero mai mancare per un'opera come questa.L'assenza dei sottotitoli (anche in altre lingue) rende meno fruibile il supporto e sebbene personalmente non'è stato un problema seguire le varie interviste, commenti e battute trà gli artisti, la reputo "un'assenza ingiustificata".Noto, inoltre, che la qualità video degli intermezzi non musicali (interviste e commenti) è di bassa qualità tanto da restituire immagini quasi seghettate ai bordi.Per fortuna che i video musicali sono di buon livello.Capisco che la provenienza potrebbe essere quella NTSC ma questi limiti sono stati superati da tempo tecnicamente parlando per questo tipo di supporto.Audio nella media, non'è nulla di così "esaltante" ascoltato su un catena audio "decente".Personalmente boccio totalmente questa versione Blu-Ray che non perdono tecnicamente.5 stelle, invece, per la piacevolezza e la bellezza di questo evento.Tony Bennett e lo stuolo di cantanti ben selezionati/e creano un'atmosferica "magica".L'edizione è "penosa" ma allo stesso tempo imperdibile, da avere assolutamente.Gradevole, di buon gusto e in un certo senso "autobiografico" di uno spaccato che è stato rappresentato dalla "grande musica americana" .. ma non solo !Magnifico e consigliabile, salvo quanto sopra esposto.Questa la mia recensione.

La imagen es blu-ray todo correcto, pero la sorpresa desagradable viene cuando entre canción y canción Tony Bennet mantiene dialogo con el cantante que va a cantar con el y NADA DE NADA no tiene ningun subtitulo y cuando buscas en el menú sonido DTS o DIGITAL 5.1 NADA DE NADA el sonido es stereo 2.1 me llevé un despago monumental.Esto pienso que es muy importante para que a la hora de comprar un Blu-Ray que especifiquen si contiene subtitulos y en que idiomas y tambien el sonido si esta en 5.1 o 2.1 espero que este comentario le pueda servir a algun comprador.El pedido me llegó como siempre perfecto un diez

Delightful duets with Aretha Franklin, Norah Jones, K.D. Lang, but my favourite is the one with Lady Gaga, who absolutely steals the show with her rendition of "The Lady is a Tramp". Bennett seems to improve with age, and considering he was almost 80 when he did this – heck, even not considering this – if you like Bennett, you will want to buy this product without question.

Ho preso il blu ray più per curiosità che non per vero piacere, e invece mi sono reso conto che ne valeva la pena, un uomo con una voce bellissima che duetta con donne bellissime. Musiche senza tempo. Il duetto con lady gagà è frizzante.

This is a super CD with amazing guest artists, from Lady Gaga to Josh Grobin. It can be listened to over and over again. It doesn't get stale. The songs are wonderful. If you don't own it, you should!

Me ha encantado

Diese Blue Ray kann ich jedem der etwas Gefallen an gutem Swing hat, ans Herz legen.Es handelt sich nicht um ein durchgehendes Livekonzert. Trotzdem sind die einzelnen Videoclips super geschnitten und von klasse Tonqualität.Ebenso zu erwähnen die wirklich tollen Duettpartner/inen. Ich denke das diese Konstellation so nicht mehr zu erwarten ist.Also sehr empfehlenswert.

Interessante Doku zu seinem 85. Geburtstag und ein schöner Einblick, mit vielen Interviews und den Duett-Videos. Tony Bennett möge noch lange singen.
