New Superior Alkaline Charging Circuitry
My first unit failed within a few days, and after getting its replacement I can see that it did not work right when I first received it. The replacement unit works beautifully and is everything I hoped it would be. I need to explain that this is Version III of this product. The first two versions were good, but this one is vastly superior. It's Alaline Battery charing circuit is considerably different that the previous versions. The instructions say to wait to recharge an Alkaline cell until it is completely discharged. Well, I thought I knew better because with previous versions of this product the batteries lasted the longest if you only let the cells get to about 70% of capacitity and then recharged them frequently. With this new circuitry, unless the cell is mostly or completely exhausted, your battery will leak down into the unit. Follow the instructions. By some miracle of new alkaline battery charging technology, it recharges a dead cell to a high percentage of its original capacity in a relatively short amount of time. I recommend this product. Customer service could not have been better.

Cheaply made. Used twice. Batteries explode and leak onto circuit boards. Can't read display. Junk.
Save your money and look elsewhere for a battery charger. Very poorly made. Batteries exploded on second use and leaked into the body of the unit ruining the circuit boards. Display is barely visible. Just junk.

This charger does recharge Alkaline batteries like it claims, however...
This charger does recharge Alkaline batteries like it claims, however you should be careful and aware of a couple things. I’ve had great success with name brand Alkalines where it essentially recharged them from throw away status to practically new, and even days later they still had their charge and were going strong. Though when charging lesser known generic Alkalines they’d charge, but seemed to be more prone to leaking, and not always right away. I’ve also found that when attempting to charge Alkalines that still had around 75%+ charge they’d also be more prone to leaking. So I guess my biggest complaint would be is I wish this charger would better sense the Alkaline batteries current charge and better top them off rather than pushing too much into them causing a leak. Bottom line, charge only truly dead Alkalines (like the manual states) cause if you don’t there’s more of a chance they’ll leak, or worse.I do like this charger though, and in defense of it I’d point out everyone knows Alkaline batteries aren’t really meant to be charged, and it does seem to matter on the quality of the battery. But if you’re careful about it, you can successfully charge Alkaline (and just about any other type) batteries with this and it will easily end up paying for itself. On top of that, the couple of USB ports are a nice added touch and work great for charging cell phones or powering/charging any other USB device you want.A great buy!

Great Charger, should have bought this long ago
If you think you alkaline or Lithium AA, AAA batteries are not rechargeable, you are wrong. You can get at least 3 cycles out of them. Stop wasting money, this charger will pay for itself in a short time. "Experts" say that recharging these is dangerous. WRONG! How does the factory charge them then? Duh! I have charged all kinds of different batteries with this. AAA, AA, 3 volt both li and alkaline. No heat or spill issues as long as the battery was in good shape prior to the recharge. You also want to recharge drained ones. Recharging almost full ones doesn't give you as many cycles, although it still works.

A couple of the digital readouts not working properly
Had the unit for a short time so I am unable to give it a complete review. That said --- it has charged batteries and cell phone. One problem --- a couple of the digital readouts do not work completely. The unit seems to be working fine but I would not purchase another.

Great device. Got an updated version it turned out
The MaximalPower product I received was also labeled as an FC999 Mark III but did not have the shown switch to handle Lithium Ion vs LiFePO4 batteries. Turns out I got an upgraded version which detects the lithium chemistry automatically and does in fact handle LiFEPO4 batteries. In addition, it does a great job at restoring partially depleted alkaline batteries as well. It is a single all around charger to handle the various battery chemistries for my flashlights and other devices.

WASTE OF MONEY!!
Extremely cheaply made product! Will not properly charge batteries. Now I have to purchase another battery charger that hopefully will work next time. SO DISAPPOINTED IN THIS PRODUCT.

Great charger!
This is the best charger I've ever owned. It's a very versatile product with many options for batteries to be charged. The two USB ports are a real bonus. Great buy.

Seems quite versatile!
Appeared to work on Alkaline ... First ship lost track & has never arrived. Only had it for 2 days ... not had a chance to see if the alkaline claim holds up.

Causes batteries to leak
I purchased the FC999 Mark III model on Oct '21 to replace one of its predecessors I had for at least 10 years. I charge mostly AA and AAA batteries. I am very disappointed in this model. Many of the batteries I charged ended up leaking. Not only was the battery itself destroyed but battery leakage flowed into the tracks for the terminals. The result is that the terminals became very difficult to move to accommodate different battery sizes. I did follow the instructions provided. In addition, the terminals are not easy to grip. I have been using a pair of needle nosed pliers to force the terminals to move. The flexibility of being able to charge different battery sizes and types in a big step forward, however, very frequently one bay stopped charging while I put a battery in another bay. I had several instances of the unit indicating a battery was fully charged, but when I tested it with a multimeter it definitely was not. I also had frequent times when a battery would not charge in one bay, but would in another. Similar to this was different bays would yield a differing results for the state of charge for same battery. All in all, there are very few devices that can recharge alkaline batteries. I had much better results from my old model. This one is in need of much improvement. The short 3 month warranty speaks to the company's lack of confidence in this product.
