My old heater used wires that smelled like burning dust when first turned on and it had no temperature readout, just higher and lower, so you had to guess at what temperature you were setting. The thing I like the best about this is that you can set a temperature using a digital readout, and this heater will heat the room to that temperature and then shut off. It will maintain that temperature, quietly coming on when the room cools. This heater is capable of keeping our RV at 73 degrees when the outside temperature is only 45, the coldest we have experienced since buying it. However, be aware that when you look at the heater from the back side, the readout appears as "EL", which confused me until I figured it out. Do not merely pull the plug when the heater is running, but rather, turn it off, and the fan will run for about a minute until the ceramic element has cooled enough to protect itself.
