One Pair of White Window Sash Tilt Latches 2878WHITE

Purchased these to replace broken ones. They were a perfect fit, easy installation and work just like the original ones. If you need replacements of this style look no further.

For anyone searching, these match the latches that have an 8590 on the bottom. I wish someone else had bothered to mention it as I took a gamble ordering these, but it paid off. Now when I first was replacing these, I used a putty knife, sliding under the edges, trying to pull it out, and I ended up just snapping the old one in half, which allowed me to pull it out.Learn from me: pull the middle tab up (the tab meant to slide the latch in and out of the window), it should pop out, then pull the spring + latch assembly (if it is not already damaged), then you can just pull the remaining assembly out.How to install: slide the latch all the way back, then tuck it under the window frame hole and slide the entire assembly forward. Lastly, push the curved part down into the frame and there, in a few seconds you have replaced the latch and saved yourself the hundreds it would have cost to replace the window.Do be careful going forward since based on the looking at the latch, I don't know how just two of them support a window tightly wedged in, but as long as it stops my windows from just falling down, it works for me.

The hardest part installing in this latch was removing the broken one. Once I was done with that this new latch slid in fairly easily.I hope this helps for someone else having a hard time to find the right latch, my window has this sticker on it: 32 3/8x22 5/16 LowE-3

They worked perfectly. Easy to install. Keeps the window secured.

Exact match and fit from the OEM window unit, requires 1 flat head screw driver to remove the existing piece, slide in the new one and snap it in place with the back of the screw driver to seat it in place. Works exactly as the original!

The description is not very helpful as to what windows that this latch fits. I purchased - and it does fit the American Craftsman Series 70 lower sash. If you remove the OEM latches, they will be marked 8590 on the bottom. However,that information is not enough to get the correct part, as both the OEM and the set you will receive from Vision do not have part numbers on the latches for Left and Right - and they are not reverse-able or rebuild-able. The set you will receive from this location will be a matched pair (Left and Right)[the description above is misleading as it states "Package Item Quantity 1 - in fact it is a match set of 2]. Since they are so cheap, don't worry about having an un-used latch. Removing the old latch requires two flat screwdrivers working in tandem - pushing in to get one side tab and the rear tab pushed in enough to leverage the old latch out. The new ones snap right back in (of course, make sure you have the latches on their correct side).The part and service are 5 stars. I knocked down to 4 stars because the description as to the windows is so poor that it was a gamble to order the latches without confidence they would work.

Since shipping isn't free I stocked up on a few extra in case more fail. Fit perfectly original gecame brittle after 5 years and basically disintegrated to the touch. Hopefully these do better.
