I wanted an 40A EV charger I could trust that would work with the NEMA 14-50 outlet that I already had in my garage. While they may be new to EV chargers, the Battery Tender brand has been around a long time. This charger doesn't have all the frills of some other chargers, but I wanted to keep it simple anyway. I didn't want to have to install yet another app on my phone just to charge my car at home. I already have an app for my car that I can get charge status updates on anyway. If I really want to know whatis going on, I can walk outside and the front panel of the charger tells me all I need to know when the car is actively charging.The build quality of this charger feels like it is made to last. The fact it is made by a trusted brand gives me confidence that it won't let me down.

Here are some of the things I’ve learned while owning it and things to consider before buying.I. Quality – This charger looks and feels like a very well-made charger, with thick cables and a strong build. I’m happy with the higher quality this one offers. I’d put the overall quality in the lower side of the upper tier of the quality scale for at home EV chargers and guess that it should hold up well over time.II. Performance – It’s worked great in many ways, with power up to 40 amps that’s easily adjustable to what you need. It includes a basic, but helpful screen for useful information, such as time, current, voltage, power used and temperature, that’s larger and easy to read. It has 6 safety features, to help keep you safe, like over-voltage protection. The cable is long at 25ft, making it convenient if you can’t park close to the plug. It comes with a NEMA 14-50 plug that will need a 50-amp breaker to utilize the full 40-amps. The wall mount for the main unit is sturdy, providing a strong way to attach it to the wall. I feel like the main unit is bigger than most and a bit excessive versus others that I have with the same capability.Overall, this is a fantastic option that offers a high charging ability, with notable quality, convenience and all the basic features needed, from a trusted brand. This was meant to be a temporary replacement for a previous unit that failed on me but it quickly turned into a more permanent replacement after I started using it. It lacks certain features, which are not necessary for an EV Charger, but I felt were convenient enough to want in my future charger. After I got this up and going, I decided that it's a simple but very effective charger that will stay my permanent charger for the foreseeable future.The charging output can be adjusted. You get a nice readable LCD display screen, allows you to read status, output, etc. RFID cards are included for secure charging.Everything required is included. The charger, mounting bracket/hardware and 2 RFID cards. It also comes with a 3 year warranty. Battery Tender is not a new brand- I am familiar with the name and trust them to stand by their warranty, too.

I've known the Battery Tender brand for many years and have trusted them in the automotive industry parts and supplies.I chose this 40A Level 2 Charging Station based on the design, being able to wrap the cable around the charging station and with the functional and detailed screen displaying the charging session information.This Battery Tender eCharge 40A station uses a NEMA 14-50P, which is a 4-prong plug that plugs into a conventional 50A circuit. Specifically, this type of receptacle requires 2 line hots, 1 neutral, and a ground. In the case of this EV charging station, the neutral is not used.The charging station includes a long 25ft cord which makes me very happy because sometimes I need to reach other vehicles parked outside my garage and when I have my car parked in the garage I can wrap the cord around the station. 25ft is an amazing length for a charging station most do not offer.If it matters to you, this station also includes an RFID reader which controls who can and cannot use the station in case you have it mounted outside and you need to control who can use it.The charging station includes the mounting bracket and hardware needed to easily mount the station.I'm very pleased with the installation of this Battery Tender EVSE and look forward to using it for years to come! I'm super happy with it.

Simply ensure you have a 4 prong 14-50 outlet and you can uphold the 40 amp load. It's adequately simple to set up and utilize. Whenever it's connected, it's solid and simple to utilize. It feels pretty tough. I like that you can do straightforward attachment and play without requiring application use. The screen is straightforward, yet has helpful essential data there, no superfluous incidental stuff there. The cost is very high, however it appears to be strong and works dependably up to this point, so wouldn't fret the exorbitant cost. The 25-foot adaptable link offers more than adequate reach, making it simple to associate my vehicle without problem.
