First batch I used cultures for Bulgarian yogurt and whole milk. I used the setting for Greek yogurt and set the timer for 20 hours. Then strained it using the included strainer. The yogurt came out very thick and tangy just as expected. I also had plenty of whey left over that I use for baking and I add small amounts to my dog’s food. For the second batch I used 1/4 cup of plain Chobani Greek yogurt and whole milk, used the Greek yogurt setting with timer set for 18 hours. After straining the yogurt was the same consistency as the starter yogurt. Very tasty with fruit and granola. The third batch I used 1/4 cup of leftover whey from the previous batch and the same settings on the machine. This also turned out perfectly. Care must be taken when cleaning the strainer. It’s somewhat fragile. I use whole milk from a local dairy that is low heat pasteurized and non-homogenized. What I love about this yogurt maker is that it’s not required to pre-heat the milk and cool it back down. Just add a small amount of water to the chamber, mix your starter and milk of choice to the included stainless steel container, place the container in the chamber and choose your settings. Then be patient.
