Failed already
I've had this product since October 2024 and at first I was OK with it despite it being laggy at times, but last month it started having fan issues and today it finally died altogether. Lasted just 4 months. Buyer beware, I guess.

Networking it is a bit complicated
This is a great solution for turning a SATA hard drive into a USB3 or NAS, but the latter is a bit complicated. A specialized app must be run on PC and/or smartphone that basically creates a VPN to this as a server with user accounts, public and private storage areas. Most NAS have this access control complexity, just in the case of this product, it was extra confusing to me whether the drive was online during initial setup and whether formatting was in progress or needed doing. Then came the usual confusion with how to enable expected functionality such as SMB (default off), so it initially did not appear listed in networked storage on Windows. The actual server too would not appear on file manager browsing, rather requiring the confusing access app to mount and link to storage and accounts.I have had experience with NAS solutions from ASUS and some other parties before, and thus far I still am most impressed with ASUS. A single drive NAS from ASUS was considerably pricier and fewer options available, so I settled for this. Once the access (eg SMB) came online and I had login for administrator and user accounts handy, use of this has been on par with a configured ASUS NAS.
