Ophellia 2021 Cretan Extra Virgin Olive Oil 1 Litre

I have no pretensions of being an expert on olive oil. However, I spend quite a lot of time in Greece where it is widely used both for cooking and for dressing salads, which is why I prefer to buy the Greek product. I have in the past bought smaller bottles of Greek olive oil from Waitrose and found them to be fine for my use which is mixed with a honey/balsamic vinegar as a salad dressing. Seeing this Cretan product avilable for such a reasonable price I thought it worth trying.If your intended use is similar to mine, it is not only worth trying for cooking or salad dressing but in my view is just about perfect. It is a light oil with no strong flavour; I don't regard this as a defect, it's actually what I want but those after a more substantial, thicker oil with a distinct flavour might well be disappointed. As others have commented, the screw cap is flimsy and easy to damage on opening - something the bottlers really ought to address.I've just bought my second bottle and with such quality at such a resonable price I have no doubt I shall continue to use and enjoy this excellent product.

Great tasting, quality oil. It took 2 of us to try to open the screw cap lid. It just spins around - the thread is faulty. We had to cut the cap along the perforated lines and eventually it opened but now it won't screw tight. I've seen other reviews mentioning the difficulty with the screw cap...so I know it's quite a common occurence.That being said, it was wrapped in bubblewrap, carefully packaged and decent price. If the screw cap issue can be fixed - it'd be perfect.x

Somewhat lacking in flavour for an Extra Virgin oil. I prefer Italian types to this.

Great oil. Mild flavour and smell. Great for cooking and baking.Am buying this time and time again as it’s such great value for money.Only beef is that the screw top cap on each purchase has been inferior and I’ve had to snip off part of the screw top to get access to it.

I'm not an expert on olive oil, but the peppery taste you get from this brand indicates that it's fresh. I know this from speaking to a Greek friend. For (hopefully) unadulterated olive oil, this seems like a good choice. The bottle has a classy design.

Well packaged,arrived undamaged on time. Product well within the sell by date, according to some organic growers web sites. Bought to help a skin condition which it did and was pleasantly surprised when I followed some cooks' instruction to put it on a pasta dish just before serving, they don't recommend cooking in it as its to high a quality to have it ruined with to much heat. Very happy with this buy.

I was hoping from other reviews that this would be good tasting oil, within a low price-point. I found the flavour poor, though, and certainly compares poorly with supermarket equivalents.

Good pure flavour, good looking bottle and should last. Might buy more instead of supermarket blends in future.
