Seeing as how these buffers are half an inch thick at the point of impact, you're going to surely see some "shortstroking" on your bolt and carrier. I'd say this should only be a problem if your particular AK variant isn't properly broken in or had the rails and contact points polished or "slicked up". The overall design of this buffer allows it to fit properly into different rear trunnions. I tried it for fit on a Yugo M70AB2 underfolder, a Hungarian AMD-65 side folder, a couple of Romy WASR 10s that had different trunnions, a Russian AK converted Saiga, a Romy Draco pistol, and a Bulgarian milled receiver Arsenal SLR-95. So, this WILL fit your AK. Now for the real test: Firing with and without the buffer installed, the difference is minimal to me. I noticed no familiar "clackity" noise as the bolt went rearward upon charging, (obviously), but the felt recoil was pretty much the same to me. I'm still stuck wondering if this buffer is doing any good or not on my rifles. Even though your carrier is now smacking the buffer, it is also transferring that smack via the buffer to the rear trunnion that you're trying to save from a beating in the first place. It seems that without the buffer, my carrier doesn't even come back far enough to impact the rear trunnion in the first place. I removed the dust cover and fixed a rifle in a gun vise and fired it to carefully watch how far the carrier was actually coming backwards. It sure looked and sounded to me like it wasn't touching it. I suppose I'll leave a buffer on one of my "beater" WASRs and run it for my next several range trips and see what happens. I'm really trying to be helpful here, but for now I'm still wondering if these are useless hunks of rubber designed to seperate fools from their $$ or a valuable addition to your rifle. I guess time will tell. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ so far, so good. *by B***N on March 24, 2015* 350+ rounds later and still going strong. Not a single short stroke, FTF, FTE ect. I added this and an ak74 brake to subdue the infamous NPAP cheek slap, since I've installed both my recoil is a lot more manageable. I've since installed an optic rail and riser pad and found recoil even less noticeable.After the 350~ rounds (over 1.5 months) I disassembled my an and inspected the buffer for damage.
