A brief yet adequately detailed look at our cosmic visitors
I'm a non scientist with an interest in meteoritics. This short book does a very nice job of explaining the formation and classification of meteorites without bogging one down in details more relevant to a PhD. Diagrams and pictures are clear and understandable.A nice intro for someone with an interest in the subject.

Short, illustrated book for beginners
This short book, about 120 pages, has nice color photos and "superficial" explanations. I like the page or two on Mars meteorites and some microscopic photos of the crystaline structure of some meteorites. It points out the mineral content of different types of meteorites so a motivated reader can look up more information. It has some background on how meteorites are formed, and found. It is easy to understand and the photos help enhance the text, so this book is appropriate for readers without much background nor interest in astronomy, mineralagy nor science.

A wonderful introduction to meteorites
"Meteorites" is a great introduction to the entire science surrounding these enigmatic little rocks from space. It is written at an accessible level that would be ideal as a reference for high school students or for someone just developing an interest in the field of meteorites. What I liked best was the contemporary information contained within and in addition to the main text. The science of asteroids, comets, impacts, astrobiology, and meteorites changes so quickly that it's hard to find a text with such accurate, current information. I recommend this book to anyone who has even a passing interest in meteorites.
