Good for a beginner, but potentially very dangerous.
This is quite fun. The set up is simple in that you just have to “string” the bow by bending its body and attaching each end of the string. It doesn’t take a huge effort to do this. Although the instructions are limited, it is fairly intuitive how to use, though the rubber “knock” on the bow looked like it was 1 piece and it took a lot of fiddling to get it to split and put into the right position. The bow doesn’t require a lot of strength to pull the string all the way back and maximum range was about 30m. It does come with 5 tightly rolled targets, which are great but they were quite tricky to flatten out. It comes with 2 arrows with a sucker as a tip and 2 with metal tips. The sucker ones make a satisfying “splock” when they hit a flat surface, though to get it to actually stick require a flat clean surface or they just bounce off. The weight of the sucker makes accuracy a big issue and you need to allow a lot for it. The metal pointed arrows do look vicious but how dangerous they are is unclear – The only thing I could get them to stick into was a cardboard box, and this would be a good backing for the targets. Obviously I couldn’t try them on something living but they would likely hurt a lot and would be very dangerous to eyes or something soft. It’s definitely not something a very young child should use and all children need adult supervision as any of the arrows could do severe damage to an eye for example.I do think it would be a good introduction to archery for someone, though it would be much better if there were more arrows; 4 is not enough.

Definitely Not a Toy
I found this archery set to be a good trial option for determining whether investing in a more expensive set would be worthwhileIt is not a toy, as the metal arrows can cause serious damage, yet it is not a professional set either. This makes it suitable for those who are just starting out and want to see if they enjoy the sport. The set includes four arrows, two with suckered ends for sticking to walls or windows, and two with slightly blunted metal ends. These metal arrows can still cause significant damage, so careful supervision is necessary. The set also comes with five paper target sheets, but a suitable backing is needed to catch misdirected arrowsOne downside is that the set only includes four arrows, and having three of each type would have been preferable. The arrow holster is a nice addition but feels somewhat unnecessary unless used for a costume. Additionally, the five target sheets provided are on thin paper and are tightly rolled, making them difficult to flatten and pin to a wall. More target sheets would have been a welcome inclusion, as the provided ones will not last longThe bow itself is easy to assemble, coming in two pieces that fit together with some bending and are held in place by the string. The bow’s flex provides good arrow speed, sufficient for target practice. Overall, I have enjoyed using this set, which is a step up from homemade bows and arrows. However, it is not of high enough quality for someone serious about archery

It goes a long way
The media could not be loaded. Beginners archery kitThis is a fantastic first set of “proper” archery kit if you want to have a good go at it.I would say yes this is a toy from kids age 8 as described however needs to be used under adult supervision as it does shoot arrows at a relative force that could potentially cause problems if hitting someone, but I guess that can be said for any toy if thrown at someone?!My 10yr old son has been enjoying this kit for weeks now.Wish it came with more arrows but other than that the product is absolutely great, very simple design yet made of good materials and simple to put together and use! This is good for children and adults wanting to have a taste for archery.5* for us !

Decent archery set, not a toy
I like this archery set as a trial to see if a better set would be used enough to justify the cost of an expensive set. It's not a toy level set as the metal arrows would do some serious damage and it's not a serious set either so as a trial set this is where I think the target audience lies.I would say a minimum age of 19 years old is recommended and even then under close supervision. There are 4 arrows included in this set of which two have suckered ends to stick in walls/windows (although I'm not sure I'll be targeting my windows with this) and two have sharp metal ends that have been only slightly blunted off.... They would do some serious damage aimed at a person and easily crack a window, so real care is needed. In fact you are given 5 paper target sheets but need a suitable backing for this to go in and also some suitable wider backing such as an old curtain or hay bales ideally to catch mis-directed arrows.Careful set up definitely required. It's a shame there are only 4 arrows as a set of three of either type would have been preferable. The arrow holster is handy but a little superfluous in all honesty unless you also want to use this set for a dressing up costume perhaps. It's also a shame that there are only 5 target sheets given as several more would have been welcomed and very cheap to have included with the set. 5 sheets won't last very long at all.As for the bow and arrows, the bow is very easy to assemble. It's comes in 2 pieces but with a bit of bending assembles OK and is held in place by the string fairly sturdily. The flex gives good arrow speed and certainly enough for the target use.Overall my sons and I have enjoyed this and it's a step up from home made bow and arrow sets we've made previously. Just a few simple additions, as noted above, would have been most welcomeOverall 4 stars from me.
