We recently made a switch to ethercon snakes for our A/V rental business, they're much lighter and perfect for remote runs that don't require a ton of cables but more than 1. We had started out just using regular cat 6 cable because it was cheap and I already had a ton of it. However, as is the nature of the events world, those cables aren't meant to take abuse.So we finally bit the bullet and purchased a proper ethercon cable, and having used Cable Matters stuff before we knew it would be good quality and well built. This was no exception, the connectors are good quality Neutrik with a nice snug fit, and the insulation is pliable enough to be wrapped and unwrapped with minimal twists and kinks.

I'm using the Cable Matters audio-over-ethernet adapter boxes to declutter my home studio. Any quality Cat 6 cable can be used to connect the boxes, but I prefer these heavier-duty cables with locking EtherCON connectors. Both ends of the cable have a shell like an XLR connector but with an ethernet plug inside. The plugs snap into place on the adapter boxes and hold securely. The cable itself is rugged, and I've had no issues stepping on it repeatedly.

Really like this cable for it's strength and the good jacket material. Plugs are extra secure to put in and clip nicely, and the surface of the wire jacket is very resilient, also not prone to get tangled and snag so much. Perfectly quiet signal delivery, even over 30' and crossing other wires, etc. Will probably purchase again.

The EtherCON connectors are solid, metallic, sturdy, and lock firmly into place.These cables worked well for me when utilized as standard Ethernet cables. The locking EtherCON connectors unscrew to expose a standard, male, Ethernet plug, which fits nicely, and locks very securely, into any standard PC Ethernet LAN port. Just like standard, un-shielded Ethernet cables, they have the little plastic clip which holds them in firmly place and prevents them from slipping out of the port.In case any potential buyer is wondering, this means that these Cable Matters Shielded Cat6 EtherCON RJ45 Ethernet Cables CAN absolutely be utilized as regular Ethernet cables. Please see the images included in this review for verification of these properties.I received the fifty-foot version of this outstanding Ethernet cable, and the fact that it can be used for BOTH EtherCON applications, AND for normal Ethernet port connections, simply elevates this superb, shielded cable straight into the stratosphere with regard to sheer quality and usefulness.The actual wiring is very thick, and the exceptional quality of the wiring construction cannot be denied. There is not a single aspect of this powerhouse of an Ethernet cable that disappoints me. This cable was a nice surprise for the budget. It seems very sturdy and well-made. It’s a little stiff, but it can ease up in time.

This is just what I needed for connecting my Behringer S16 and SD8 stage boxes. I had been using a regular old Cat6a cable to connect them, however, some of the worship team is a little rough on moving the box around... Time to upgrade! This cable matters EtherCON cable is very good quality. The cable is thick, the metal shield is sturdy, and the connection is tight.I haven't pulled apart the ends to check the shielding, but this cable is thicker than almost any other Cat6 cable I've gotten. Impressed with Cable Matters, and will look to them in the future for snake box installs requiring EtherCON. Well worth the price!

You can only use these cables with rj45 XLR connectors, but this gives a great secure connection.The shield is great.

Perfect for extending to my son’s new room in the basement so he can run his gaming computer. Highly recommend
