A work of genius
The real value of this superb little tome is realising that we too can write our own version of 2030, there now being no greater gift that we can also bestow on our own grandkids. I will now be eternally grateful to Pepe for giving me the idea.

Pepe is incredible
I have been reading Pepe Escobar for many, many years now. He is by far my favorite investigative journalist. As I too recently became a grandfather I can relate to the passing on of my accumulated knowledge and observations. I highly recommend this book/letter to all with an ounce of curiosity in their bones.

Journey to the West... and East
A wonderful little bit. I read Pepe Escobar's articles all the time. This is different. He talks about his literary and musical influences from Plato to Joyce, Dylan to Hendrix. Running through the book is the theme of the monk Xuanzang and the Silk Road.

A necessary serenity
In these times, wisdom like this is a balm for one's soul. The author guides the reader through a wonderful accounting of culture as seen through the eyes of one privileged - and cursed - enough to have lived in these extraordinary times.

shows hia background
Books shows the cultural background of a master world analyst. Takes a lot of reading/studying to be able to comment on world events. Traveling is just the tip of the iceberg.
