Great carb!
Bought this to replace my wire out and leaking solex carb. At first judge out of the box it was lighter and I thought it wouldn't work right or even look right on my car. But I tried it because it the cheapest on the market. I also have a high $ empi carb that worked great too. This works great just as good as the high $ right out of the box. Very minimal adjustments required to dial in idle.

Awesome replacement carburetor for any single port Vw!
This is the best carburetor for any single pot vw engine. The 30 round bowl is the best vw came out with prior to needing to get their new cars through emissions. It is the smoothest running, easiest to diagnose and tune, and easiest to swap main jet on. This round bowl is a great copy of the Solex. This looms identical to the big name Chinese replacements and must be the same factory pumping the out. These are simple to set up. There is a speed screw on. The throttle arm and a idle mixture screw on the left side. That's it. If it doesn't run well with those, you need to check your float height is correct. If that is, you need to change to a bigger idle or main jet. Idle jet should be 1-1.5 turns out. If it's not try another idle jet. I recommend always trying a bigger main jet whether you think you need it or not. On this carburetor it is very easy to change out. Try one step larger. The ethanol in the fuels demand a bigger main than these cars originally came with. If you are running hot, engine feels like you have to push it to maintain freeway speed, try a bigger main and see if that helps. 99% it will if all other things are correct. If you have running issues, I suggest using carb cleaner to check for intake leaks. Google how to do that. These 30 round bowls function better than any other carb there is! This car is a great value, amazing they can be made for this price. Half the cost is a rebuild kit, ha! I put one on my Ghia and couldn't be happier. Instant start smooth idle, nice transition and wonderful cruise! Note, this carb comes with a 12, idle jet solenoid. If you are running a 6 volt car, simply replace it with your original idle jet. I highly recommend!

A good replacement for the Solex 30 PICT-1
A good replacement for the Solex 30 PICT-1. This is a good copy of the old Solex carb for our trusty old single port engines. Upon arrival, I removed the top of the carb to check for casting remnants and was surprised to not find any. I then removed the jets and disassembled the entire carb and cleaned it thoroughly. I do this to every new carb that I have purchased as I have found some junk in these chinese carbs before. This carb came with the studs, nuts, and base gasket for the install. It fit the single port manifold as it should. I do like that the fuel inlet is a threaded fitting and not pressed in like the old Solex carbs that are known for falling out. The fuel shut off solenoid worked as it should and the carb runs great on my test engine.

It might work for you, and it might not.
A friend of mine purchased this exact same carburetor and it’s working perfect for him. I experienced a similar issue that was mentioned in another review, I was not even able to get the car to idle. Also, the additional idle jet that was provided is not the correct one for this carburetor. It does not even fit.

New 30 PICT-1 Carb Replacement… First Impressions
I picked up this Chinese 30 PICT-1 knock-off carburetor to replace a worn-out one. I haven’t installed it yet, but based on a close inspection out of the box, it looks to be good quality and matches my old carb pretty closely in overall size, layout, and linkage. Casting and finish look decent, nothing loose, and it doesn’t feel cheap or flimsy. The electric/automatic choke and fuel cut-off valve are already in place, which is nice for a direct replacement style carb. This is a brand-new unit, not remanufactured, and it appears to be designed as a straightforward bolt-on replacement for older air-cooled VW applications. For a budget option, first impressions are positive. I always like to look things over carefully before installing, and so far nothing jumps out as a red flag. See my video for my inspection notes and details, and I’ll plan to update if anything changes once it’s actually on the engine. If you’re looking for a reasonably priced replacement carb when your original is worn out or acting up, this one looks promising based on pre-install inspection.
