This corer is an excellent, solid-feeling device that seems like it'll stand the test of time. I own other kitchen utensils from OXO and they've never let me down, so I had no hesitation in buying this to help speed up the preparation of crumbles and suchlike from the glut of cooking apples our orchard produces at this time of year! I feel like it's worth paying a little more for a high quality item from a brand you trust, and I definitely feel like OXO fits the bill in that respect.

This is a fantastic kitchen tool. From first handling the corer, you can quickly tell it is sturdy and will last quite a while. The strong stainless steel handles stress very well without showing any signs of bending, and the grips feel cleverly engineered. There are also no sections on the corer sharp enough to cut you; the serrated end is sharp enough to slice through fruit or vegetables but blunt enough to be touched without worry.I first used the corer to core some potatoes for an interesting baking recipe, including normal and sweet potatoes. I thought the normal baking potatoes were tough to core until I cored the sweet potatoes (needless to say, a great arm workout), however this is where the grips on the corer really shined.Being an avid fan of apple-based desserts, I look forward to putting this corer to good use for a long while to come. Don't settle for a cheap alternative - spend a little extra with this and you'll be thanking yourself. A must have for any kitchen.

Great item. Sturdy, easy to use and clean. I have never purchased an apple corer before but after reading such good reviews thought it would be ideal as when cooking with apples makes preparation so much easier. I prefer to use it when eating an apple too, hate biting into the core!Would definitely recommend.

Other reviewers have extolled the virtue of this corer.It's sturdy. It doesn't take too much core out. The handle is comfortable. And it's easy to get rid of the core.You could even go half and half, from each end of the core. I have trouble getting a good aim and coming out in the right place going from one side only!Not cheap, but definitely worth it.

Bought this on Oxo's reputation after I had a cheap-but-effective one break at the handle. The handle is stirdy and it looks solid, but it requires far too much pressure to cut through an apple. When you need to put your weight into coring an apple, there is something wrong. I actually contacted Oxo who offered to send out a replacement, but after sending them my details I heard nothing back.Perhaps mine is a lemon - certainly enough people on here seem to be happy with theirs. But I was hoping for more.
