Sadly, due to human activity, no ocean is completely free from pollutants, so highly sophisticated processing and screening techniques are used for cod and fish oils to ensure their purity. Many toxins are indeed concentrated in the livers of fish, however this is of far greater concern with bigger, predatory fish than it is to smaller fish like cod. Reassuringly, all of our products go through a very strict screening process, both as raw materials before they enter our factories and prior to being released for sale. These tests include screening for a variety of contaminants such as aflatoxins, heavy metals, antibiotics, PCBs, dioxins, PAHs, irradiated ingredients and pesticides. All of our oils including Cod liver Oil also go through a complex purification process called molecular distillation, which removes contaminants. This means that our Cod Liver Oil conforms to the rigorous quality standards set by The European Council. They stipulate that cod liver and fish oil supplements should have TEQ levels (dioxins measured in Toxic equivalents) that do not exceed a limit of 6pg/g.

Thank you for your enquiry. I can confirm that Cod Liver Oil 1000mg contains gelatin which is bovine derived. If this is unsuitable, then you may wish to consider Cod Liver Oil Liquid with Natural Lemon Flavour, as this product does not contain gelatin.  The oil goes through a high-tech, 5 stage purification process which helps to remove any fishy taste.
