Handy "hot wrench" for rusty hardware
There comes a time in automotive and heavy maintenance where you deal with rusty, crusty, or heat fused bolts and nuts. While I've used more than a few Mapp gas, propane, and acetylene torches to heat up bolts and nuts to break them loose, there's always a danger of open flames in the vicinity of oils, greases, and flammable surfaces. Few things in life are as fun as trying to extinguish transmission fluid soaked crud that catches fire under a vehicle! This inductive heater has coils that go around the fastener and with a press of a switch, rapidly heat ONLY the hardware you're aiming to loosen. The chance of a flame kissing something flammable is close to nil.I found the item to be bulky but no more so than a Bernzo-matic type torch. The coils can be tweaked and bent to fit around obstructions and angles. I tested it out to remove a 20 year old OEM catalytic converter on a vehicle that had been exposed to salt and 250K miles of use. As soon as the previously applied penetrating oil started to smoke a bit, I turned off and removed the coil and the fasteners released as if they'd only been torqued the week prior. It's an amazing, specialized tool.My only complaints it that this particular SKU does not come with a case. I ended up trimming the foam and reusing an old blow-molded tool case. Other more expensive variants come with a pretty nice "road case" but I think raising the price $5 and adding a padded zipper case or plastic case would be an improvement. While I am not a professional mechanic or maintenance tech, I can see this tool being used 5-6 times per year for the DIY driveway mechanic and self-reliant homeowner.

Hmmm
Not sure if I got a bad unit. But it dosnt get the bolts/nuts hot enough. After a couple minutes of pushing the button the coil gets orange hot + a couple minutes over the nut but dosnt transfer to nut. Maybe it takes five minutes to work. I was excited to finally buy one. Ill try again in a couple days, when I'm not so aggravated. For as much as it costs you'd think it would work. Update i returned it didn't work after several more attempts

It does heat metal up
It didn’t come with all the accessories in the owners manual. Don’t know if it was to supposed to . The led light doesn’t work which is no big deal. This is the first time I’ve used one of these. Tried to get broken bolts out. No luck of far it does heat things up so I guess it is working as it should

Great tool
I use this when I replace the passenger side exhaust manifold on my F-150 I've also used it on different pieces of heavy equipment with seized hardware. It definitely works.
