I bought this for my tub, as I recently moved into my home and the tub was installed without a p-trap. This product will stop sewer gases from coming up from the drain, but not the overflow drain pipe. I don't think this was addressed in the description. I'm having to have a p-trap installed to correct the issue with sewer gases.

As the video shows, this solution seems to work well enough for a smelly drain pipe. It's kind of difficult to know if it actually solved the problem because the smell I experience is not a consistent issue. And because my drain pipe is not cut evenly for it to fit into place as exactly as it could. But it's a good value for the money, and it was easy to install. The quality seems pretty good as well. I ordered a set of two and there were no noticeable differences between them. In the video, I mention that my drain pipe is 2 inches wide in diameter. This is actually probably not true -- think it's greater than 2 inches wide. I included a pic in case you can better tell the actual width. ... it turns out to be a bit important because without putting the grey piece in place, the pipe was just wide enough that the whole item would have dropped right in. I thought it wasn't the right size at first. .... I'm giving 5 stars for an innovative solution for a real issue for me that can easily and inexpensively be put in place without making anything worse (that is, the water drained fine with it in place.) I think this was much less expensive than a service call ...

Nice quality 2 set of shower rain, Didn't fit my drain but water tested it and it works. It was too small for my shower drain.

This is for the Funileom Stainless Steel Shower Floor Drain Backflow Preventer. Putting this in took all of about 10 seconds because I had to see if the opening reducer were needed, first. It was; I just slid it up from the bottom - up and over the external ceiling ring. Then the unit pops in place in the drain. The hair catcher goes on top of it, and then the drain plate goes back where it was. (I have a new plate to put on top, but I need to get longer screws first, so I know that looks bad right now, plus it all needs cleaning.) I plan to leave one screw off the drain plate so I can swing the drain plate off to one side to easily remove any hair caught in the hair catcher underneath.

Tried several times and odor did not dissipate.
