Salad Whisperer: Veggie-Forward Recipes for Mouthwatering Meals

Beautifully composed, thoughtful narrative and some seriously amazing recipes
Cookbooks are a funny genre and it is hard to find one that hits all of the highpoints that validate book-form over a quick visit and scroll down on a blog page (thank God for "Jump to Recipe"). Salad Whisperer hit those notes for me. The color composition and photography are pleasing and the book does not rely on dishware and narrative photography, rather the crunchy produce, glossy dressings and special little accouterments beckon the eye. The author's narrative voice gives just enough to feel warm and instructive, rather than the "dear diary" prose that has become so frequent these days.Aside from the dressing (pun intended), the substance is here when it comes to the technical instructions, hints and guidance in the recipes. The author has a culinary background and it is obvious from what is included in the recipes, as much as what is not included. To that end, the book contains a nice mix of hearty "main dish" style salads, work lunch options and sides. I like that the dressings all have their own sections and are not buried in the body of another recipe such that I have to dig and parse for the world's best diosa verde dressing if I am feeling lazy and just want to dip some veggies, rather than impress my guests and chop chop chop. This one is a keeper.

Flavor bomb
I keep my recipe book collection to a minimum. In and effort to stay healthy, and get my family to eat more vegetables, I tried this book. Holy deliciousness!! These salads are fresh, satisfying, and easy to make. I made the lobster farro salad first, and was blown away by the flavor. Each salad has a picture, so you know what you’re aiming for (and a good way to have children pick what they would like to try). There are also so many helpful hints, you don’t have to be a professional chef to achieve the same results. I have found a new addition to my minimal cookbook shelf!

Easy to Follow Recipes
Where do I begin? I love the fact that the book comes in paperback and it’s lightweight, making it easy to carry and take along with you for some easy reading. You’ll find some great recipes on a wide range of salads; from your classics to your more “fancy-schmancy” high end salads but made easy for you to follow and that’s important when it comes to a recipe book - the instructions are foolproof! And the best part of the book; her dressing section; lots of interesting recipes on some great salad dressings. Sarah’s salad dressing recipes will turn that ::yawn::: boring bowl of greens into a mouthwatering main course dinner!
