My Army vet loved it
My UK born, US Army veteran absolutely loved it. He's a history buff and had heard of him but did not know he'd written this field guide. Some of his favorite bathroom/bedtime reading.

The Original Boy Scout Manual
Although this was written as British Army cavalry manual,it later metamorphised into the ORIGINAL ,1st EVER Boy Scout Manual and launched the author into a 2nd career as the founder of the world wide Boy Scout Movement. It's great that they've,at long last, published thjs kindle edition. It probably is the 1st time it has been reprinted since the 1st WORLD WAR.Kind of funny ,as dern near everything he wrote has been reissued dozens of times over the years, but not this.Maybe it was suppressed under the Official Secrets Act or something.A new paper copy would probably well received as an original will set one back at least 200.00 dollars ,if you can even find one

Interesting Read
Powell shares some interesting stories along the way. Not meant for boys, but there are things they might enjoy reading and games that can be adapted.

Good basic outdoor skills
While somewhat dated most of the information is quite useful.

Basics of scouting
Want to better understand the basics of scouting in the field? This is an excellent read. Yes, some terms and wording are different from what we use today. But this is understandable since it is a 1915 edition!

Missing Content from Original Edition.
This reprint of "Aids to Scouting" is not a bad copy of the original. However, it is incomplete. It is missing a few of the original diagrams that were on fold-out pages in the original editions. It was a lazy effort to make fast money by this publisher.

Interesting but dated
The general principles of soldiering are still true to this day. However the examples and some techniques are very dated and/or have been refined since this was written.A good read for all historian soldiers.
