Parkfields Middle School Review- 5Elm
We read this book as a class and we loved it. Although the story is very sad and made us feel frustrated at times, we really liked Tommo and Charlie - the main characters. Our favourite bit was when their oldest brother (Joe) went missing and the whole village had to look for him. When they found him alive, we were so happy. We also loved the way the brothers always stick together and sing 'Oranges and Lemons'. We sang this song every time it was written in the book. We recommend this book to children and adults who enjoy history and friendship. Be prepared for some sadness- our teacher cried at the end. We really wish Michael Morpurgo would write a sequel so we can find out what happens to all the characters after the war. We hope Pete is found!
