The Xtool D7 is an excellent mid-level diagnostic tool with an affordable appetite for update costs.
The Xtool D7 is a very powerful and comprehensive diagnostic tool with an 8 PID count for Live Data, with the option of a normal list of graphs or a 2D overlay of all 8 PIDs that allows the filtering out of non relevant PIDs to be able to focus on the freeze frame action of specific PIDs as they interact with the other selected ones. There is also a grip on the slidebar so I can jump to the frame of interest. I prefer the real-time response from the 16 pin VGA style cable. Although the cable can be difficult to manage at times, the the 9' extentiom cable allows me to watch the screen while under the hood. The buffering lag from Bluetooth devices leave me waiting that half second of response time to see the results of my action. With the functions of this mid-level tool, I can pinpoint the the cause of any or all of the components that are out of balance as well as why they are out of balance and by how far.Cleaning or replacing those components can then be verified, compared and recorded for several reasons, such as to check my work or provide a printout of the diagnostic path taken to resolve the issue and bring the system back into balance. At that point, I have spent a small amount money on parts and invested a moderate amount of money on tools, but the abillity to know which circuit could be causing an imbalance of my vehicle is of much more value then paying someone else to fix it for me, and still only wonder wich components or connectors might fail next.If the need for programming should arise, then I will know why, as well as how to minimize or prevent the need for future programming from here on.When every vehicle I've ever owned has been pre-owned or built from scrap, lol, and now most vehicles on the road are dependent on transisters to maintain a near perfect balance of the smooth function of that vehicle, then learning the language of electronic control of energy through digital communication becomes a valuable skill that can save the avarage novice a bundle of money on diagnostic and repair costs. The D7 has been a game changer for me, to have the knowledge of the function of my vehicles and maintain that balance for a reasonable investment of studying and observing the components involved and know the costly "what as well as why" answer to most any reason for that light to let me know that an issue IS present. A monthly diagnostic is less painful then a trip to the dentist. The customer service team is very dedicated and responded the very next day. They really do care that have I have purchased the device that will provide me with the level of diagnostic interaction that I am needing to assist me in keeping all of my vehicles in as near perfect balance as financially possible.I know from experience with a Launch X431 pad that I tried to use, that the process to success is to beg the development team for support that may never arrive. This is not the case with Xtool. They are very engaged, as well as knowledgeable to the needs of the customer.I am confident that I have made a logical choice in purchasing the D7 from Xtool, and I believe that you will be amazed at the performance and versatility of Xtool products.

Great diag tool with tons of features and data!
First, Xtool customer support was great at helping me pick a scanner and verifying that it had the data I needed for my vehicles. I tried a competitor’s scanner recently and it was horrible compared to this D7.The live data features on this scanner are great! I ran live data on a CTS-V to track cylinder misfire, I tested it on a Ram 1500 to measure individual wheel speed sensors, and I tried it on a Mustang to monitor fuel trims. It worked great and showed me everything I needed. This scanner can easily clear trouble codes for all of your vehicle’s different modules, but where it shines is all the data you can access and the multitudes of special features (some of which vary between vehicles). Even my 25 year old Mustang drift car had some special features on the scanner like an ABS bleed option.Overall, I think this scanner is a fantastic value, especially when you consider scanners like the Harbor Freight models cost just as much and have less than half the features. It’s also an android tablet, so you can surf the web, watch instructional videos, or play music while you’re working. If you are a DIYer and do your own maintenance/repairs, this will make your life easier!

Great tool for DIY and basic level mechanics
This is a great tool if you work on your own vehicles, are just starting out as a mechanic, or even starting out as a locksmith. I use this to do a few different things on a daily basis, and for the price, it beats others in the same price. I have an OTOfix scanner that claims to do everything the XTOOL can, but the XTOOL extremely outperforms it in the key fob/immobilizer functions. I have had the XTOOL work on newer cars (2015+) and pull security codes that the other one couldn’t. From what I can see, the Xtool seems to be “compatible” and able to read not only more makes and models, but able to read more modules as well. It is also easier to read as far as the commands for walking you through certain procedures. Most of these budget friendly level scanners are not originally coded/created in English, so the translations can sometimes be harder to understand. Overall, I have had way less issues with translations and clear language with the XTOOL scanner compared to other competitors. Their tech support also has way better English skills than other budget friendly brands as well. It’s user interface is very easy to use, so that is a big part of why I believe if you’re just starting out and don’t want to spend more than 500 bucks, this may be your go to. Everything’s easy to navigate, every once in a while I will be slightly annoyed with the speed of the scan tool, but that would most likely be my biggest complaint. Overall i would say it is very solid and gets things done, whether you’re making keys, doing diagnostics and wanting to see specific voltages, temperatures, pressures etc, or even relearning modules such as TPMS or battery maintenance modules in European vehicles. It for me has covered stuff from American made, to Japanese, to Korean, and done everything I’ve asked of it on European cars. I have friends in the business with snap on and Matco scanners that may have a few more functionalities, but as a basic to moderate level mechanic, I have yet to have something I can’t complete with my XTOOL scanner. I also like the size of the XTool. The scanner itself isn’t too large. Some may like a larger screen, but I feel like the Xtool is quite adequately sized while being compact enough too. My Xtool pulls the same codes, does many of the same functions, and recognizes the same cars as their scan tools can for literally 2% of the price of some of theirs. Mobile mechanics, entry level technicians on most euros, entry to moderate level techs for American/japanese/korean makes, independent shops, and most locksmiths will be able to use this tool and all of the functionalities of it with no issue. If you are a higher level technician, especially for diesel or European stuff, I may look to see if there are other options, but other than that this scan tool will be perfect for most!

Good Product
Good product and does what it said it would do. Only thing was that it said it was able to program transmissions and its not capable. But other than that overall great product for the price.
