An unexpected islay whiskey
I had heard good things about Bunnahabhain. I like my peated whisky so when the prime day was on i thought why not...... Except this is not your standard Islay whisky. It's lightly peated and finished in port barrels, so it's sweet and not very smokey. It tastes more like a Speyside whisky with a medium smoke. The sweetness is not too much or sickly and balances nicely. It is definitely still something very different from a Speyside whisky and worth a try.If you are looking for a fiery smokey peated whisky typically of islay this is not for you. But for something different it is worth a dram.Good quality and value. Recommended. Thank you for reading my review. I hope you found it useful

My current favourite
I've been a whisk(e)y drinker for around 30 years and have a very broad taste. For context, my previous favourite for over a decade was Lagavulin. I also really like Penderyn, the original Glenmorangie Port Wood, and American Rye such as Sazerac.I discovered this gem earlier this year when I bought both the Bunnahabhain Stiuireadair and the cask-strength Bunnahabhain Abhainn Araig. What I love about this is that it is so easy to drink. It's quite unusual that it is an unpeated Islay, so it is so so smooth (not unique, as I have had an unpeated Bruichladdich). The label says it is "sherried, salty, unpeated... creamy and smooth, with hints of nuts, spice and coastal salt... rich sherry notes with hints of rich dried fruit". Now, to me that sounds like Christmas pudding!I have copied that, because I am not as eloquent. What I can say in my words is that it is a gorgeous whisky, both neat or with a small block of ice (which releases more flavour). As a sub-£40 whisky (and sometimes under £35), this is amazing. I have just bought myself another bottle, and one for my dad for Christmas. Let's see if I manage to keep that second bottle unopened!

Outstanding !!!
10/10 !!! this is outstanding whisky - The nose is peaty with rich oak and hints of sherry. The palate opens with a warming peat - if you are a peated whisky fan that's whisky for You. Ton of character great taste and amazing price - I cant prise that particular whisky enough - my top 5 alongside Coal Ila, fire and cain Glenfiddich,Lagavulin16, Peated Glendronach. Give it a try highly recommended

Probably my favourite whisky
Lovely tipple, good alcohol strength and rich well-rounded body. An Islay for those who are put off by the more common heavy peat.
