Good hardware and value for the money
The hardware you get here is well worth the money but you do have to use some of your own ingenuity in figuring it out. First of all, the only instructions are the ones right here on the Amazon product page - there's nothing more detailed sent with the product. Also, the paper punch style punch pliers you get with the kit won't go through anything very thick. Plus, to use those the hole needs to be very close to the edge of whatever you're working on, so you're probably going to use something else anyhow for a lot of the holes, so you might as well just use that for all of them. The second method of making holes provided in the kit is a hole punch that you drive with a hammer. It's probably fairly suitable for leather or vinyl. I found that with fabric, the hole it makes is fairly big and sloppy. For the rivet to do a good job of holding things together you want the hole as small as you can get by with, allowing the rivet to overlay more material. I've found that with a fabric the best thing to make a hole with is a pick type device with a sharp end that you can just poke through the fabric. This way you also cut fewer threads, which helps to preserve the overall integrity of the fabric. You could also use a nail or even a compass (the kind you use to draw a circle), pushing the pointed end through the fabric. There is a knack to hammering the rivets together, and if you get them crooked (easy to do unless you're accurate with the hammer) they're not easy to get out without damaging the material you've got them in. So, practice on some scrap material, as the product maker advises. Sometimes I find that the little round "anvil" that you place under the rivet when you hammer it isn't really needed and can easily slip out of position and make the rivet crooked. You can probably just do without it as long as you're on a utility table where surface marks aren't a problem. If you're doing this on your kitchen or dining room table, protect the table with a mover's blanket or similar, plus a piece of wood to put under the point you're hammering. What you have here is a product that's adaptable to many different uses, so there's a certain amount of improvising you have to do as you figure out how to use these rivets with the specific material you're working with. It's a good set. I have given it four rather than five stars only because of the lack of detailed instructions and the limited workability of the hole punch that comes with the set. Other than that, it's highly versatile and useful to have around. If you're the type of hobbyist who's contemplating using this, you're probably used to coloring outside the lines a little, so you'll have the skills necessary to put this to use on your project.

Not especially sturdy
I've gone through a lot of these trying to get them to tap together straight. There's a light "click" when you press them together with your fingers, but then they tend to slide a bit in their little curved holder, and end up mashed diagonally. A pair of needle nose pliers pries the mashed bits apart. But ultimately the metal is too light to connect well. Of my closest connected rivets, 1/3 popped apart in use.

I couldn’t get any to work
They seem fine, for the price, but I couldn’t get a single rivet to press properly. They all bent sideways. They also feel very cheap.

They're Smaller Than You Think!
This is a decent set, but you won't be using them on anything even remotely thick. They're smaller than what I had thought they would be. I use rivets and snaps for leather working and these are fine for the thin stuff.

Lots of rivets included
Only complaint, none of the rivets were long enough for my project. However it will be useful for the next one !

Excellent for emergency repairs
It Is an excellent product for emergency repairs and non-professional use. I used it to fix my wife’s Dooney purse giving her a few more years of use of her work bag. I also found it handy to have on hand when I had to replace some rivets on some of my child’s vocabulary wheels.

Good quality and easy to use
I used these to fix my son's back pack and not only did they work great, they looked good and matched the other rivets already on the bag.

Great value for the price
This was really a good set for the price. It was worth it. I actually used it on heavy denim and could not use the included punch because the material was to thick, however, I just used a sharp awl to push a hole into the denim and it worked great. Very happy with it...

Good and bad
As others have said, the rivets are OK and seem substantial enough, but the hole punch pliers are of no use at all. In fact, so bad that I wouldn't even bother trying to use them.

Nice and tidy kit
Very nice and tidy and easy to use

Not the tool though...
Good rivets but not the tool. It struggles to make a hole in leather or canvas, I don't know what would be good for. It's better to use the puncher tool with the hammer instead of this...

A brilliant gift for the reenactor or craft enthusiast in your life.
The media could not be loaded. These easy to use 2 part rivets really look the par once they are fitted. They are designed so that when you press the two parts together they lock in place while you work with them. Apart from a hammer everything that you need is in the box. Once you have squashed the two parts of the rivet together they really do look the part. Many reenactment groups would be happy with them and even it those that would not you could probably =get away with using them for a quick repair. There are two head sizes for these rivets and 2 lengths as well. They come in 4 colours so you should always be able to find what you need.
