The clip will break eventually and Buck does not carry replacement clips.
This particular model Buck is not Made in USA. However, the quality is respectable and the price is good. This is a great utility knife that works when you need it to. After about 8-10 months of regular use and carrying it nearly everyday, the clip will break. The most unfortunate part about the clip failure is that Buck does not sell replacement clips. This is now my fourth knife of this exact style. I have the first three just sitting in a box because they clip has broken off and although I can't clip it to my pocket or belt any longer, I just can't justify throwing it out. Hopefully Buck will begin offering replacement clips one day soon. If they do, I'll be in line waiting to order three of them.

A great value for a quality knife. Makes a nice gift. Boaters will especially like it.
This is a great every-day knife! I like the serrated portion of the blade, ideal for cutting rope. The locking mechanism is durable and effective. The added bottle opener, why not! The only notable "deficiency" is that the light colored rubberized grips show grime build-up, so if you care, get black. Also noteworthy, it's easy to open with one hand using your index finger, assisted by the nubs cut into the end of the folding blade. Overall its a solid knife and a great value.

It just has this locking action that is easy, unique
I have over 50 folding and fixed blade knives. You name it -- benchmade, spyderco, kershaw, gerber, ganzo, victorinox, opined, buck, steel will, morakniv, condor, etc. When I compare axis lock, flipper, studs, etc and ask myself which I gravitate toward over and over it has to be either ball-bearing flippers or this knife. It just has this locking action that is easy, unique, reliable, and enjoyable. Plus it's very affordable. You can't lose for the money.

A good knife.
I was tempted to give it five stars, but that would mean it is perfect and might be misleading. I have seen complaints that it is not rugged enough, but I do not think a folding knife should be used as a pry iron and it seems rugged enough to me. I have been carrying mine for a couple of months now and I think it is very good. With a little practice the opening system works well. I think it was very much designed for a right handed person, and would seem not to be useable left handed. I am right handed, but experimented with left hand use. I soon found this is not a problem. It is very easy to use work the latch with the middle finger instead of the thumb as is done right handed. The notches on the blade for opening and closing it also make for good and very controlled cutting grips. The knife came very sharp and seems durable. I try to use the non-serrated part of the blade on a regular basis, saving the serrations for when they are needed. Sharpening a serrated blade is never anywhere near as easy as it is with a smooth blade. The only exception I know was a very odd swiss army knife I once had with simple serrations on a flat ground blade. I developed an efficient way to sharpen that, but I am quite sure it would not work on this hollow ground blade. To me the bottle opener on the handle is sort of a gimmick, but it does not much harm and could be use a lanyard loop. In comparing it with other knives, it is, in one way, less versatile. It must be carried point down. The bottle opener makes it impossible to move the clip to the other end.

really fast opening and sturdy secure locking feature
love the design of this knife. have been wanting it for months since i first saw it in Bass ProShops-but was unwilling to pay the higher price there or on here for such a small knife. so when it went down in price I immediately put it in my cart and bought it.when it arrived i was so happy. it is a great little knife. the cool design really provides super fast one-handed opening. the instructions say to use the little notches to open the knife. but all you really have to do is push the locking mechanism down and flick your wrist! it's that easy and that fast.the grip on the knife is wonderful, it feels nice and it is durable. the blade was not really as sharp as I'd like-but i guess that just goes to personal preference. and it's an easy fix. i'm a collector and i have several knife sharpeners lying around.the only reason the knife did not get 5 stars from me is the sharpness factor and the bottle opener is useless. it is so tiny-it is impossible to take a bottle cap off in one shot like it should be. it was more like using a key to try to open a bottle-if you've ever tried that, you know what i mean. i gave up on the bottle opener and used the one i have mounted in my kitchen.overall this knife is cool and unique. it is now my new daily pocket knife.

Great knife for teaching younger kids knife safety
Lock on, lock off. I use this knife to teach Cub Scouts proper knife safety, and find myself tossing it my my backpack for camping trips more often than any other knife. It's a two-way locking blade. It locks open when in use, and locks shut when closed. It's simple enough for one-handed operation, and most importantly from a parent perspective the locking mechanism is NOT inside the knife where fingers might be in the way but on the outside instead. The blade seems solid and so far I have not had a problem with it holding an edge.I would (and have) buy this again.

Really nice knife for the price
I purchased 2 of these, one for a gift and one for myself. The overall quality of the knife seems to be very good. It is stamped made in China, but appears to be made to Buck quality standards. With a little practice, you can open the blade very quickly. The "rubber" handle is semi-tacky so it really grips will in your hand without being too sticky to attract lint in your pocket. It has a metal loop on the end of the knife that appears to be a bottle opener, so +1 on functionality. The only reason I did not give this 5 stars is because I am not sure how durable the rotating blade mechanism is. When the blade is open, you can push on the blade, side to side, and see a little bit of give in the rotation mechanism. In previous pocket knives I've owned, when the blade was locked open, there was very little give. For cutting purposes, this knife should last a lifetime, but I wouldn't use it to pry anything open (not that you should with any knife, but this is a "tool"). All in, for the price I paid, I am very satisfied.
