My grandkids are into drawing and a few of them take art seriously so there is always a need for art supplies. These can get expensive particularly if you get them through an art supply store so when I saw this I thought it would be ideal for my grandson. He just started the sixth grade and his favorite class is art and as anticipated he was told to bring a whole bunch of supplies for class. While I initially thought that this might be another cheap cheesy set I ordered it anyway.As it turned out this is a great all in one art kit that is ideal for the beginner student. Most the things they need to get started are there all in one package. I do some drawing myself so I tried out both the pencils and charcoal and found them to be sufficient. The other supplies are of standard fare. Short of sandpaper for the blending stumps everything is covered. While this might not be a professional art kit it is a great starter kit for young artists. The only complaint I received was that the cover was "for girls". I told him that if he wanted a more manly one he can use his own money and order it. The kid can scrap so I'm sure he'll get over it. Other than the color of the travel case it was perfect.I was satisfied with my order. While kit is up to par the best part is the price point. If you were to go to the art supply store and buy all this separately it would run you much more than what is being charged here. The quality of the set is up to standard for any student art program and economically you really do get the whole bang for your buck. I would recommend this to anyone who knows young people who are into art. It covers everything and would make for a great gift whether you're a child or just a hobbyist who enjoys drawing. For the money you won't do better than this.

First of all, this set had a few items that I was really impressed with. The black "snakeskin" cover can be either very stylish, or for a man, very masculine. The material of the case is great for sensory and I could not keep myself from touching it. The zippers are good quality and I had no issues opening or closing the case. The sand paper is great for sharpening pencils to a fine point, although it does include a pencil sharpener in the set. I loved the pencil extender! It's really nice to see a company include one of these! How many times have we all had a pencil get shorter and shorter until it was difficult to write with the pencil before we finally throw it away? This allows you to use the pencil set much longer as a shorter pencil can be put into the pencil extender and used as if it was still a long pencil. The set includes different sized blenders/smudgers, a nice white eraser for fixing mistakes and even a flexible kneaded eraser. If that wasn't enough, there is also a 50 page sketch book included with the set as well as a ruler for making straight edges and measuring things like eyes/nose/mouth/eyebrows while sketching faces.Simply a great little set at a REALLY reasonable price for all the additions and bell and whistles that this set contains!I wish I would have found this set about 5 years ago before I bought every one of these items separately and at great cost!

This set comes with a black case to keep your sketching supplies in one place. It's not the best case but it's not the worst, especially for someone just starting. That way if it's not for you, there's not that much money invested. It comes with a small top spiral bound sketch pad with white, tan, & black paper included. The drawing pencils are of good quality. They come in a wide variety of hard & soft graphite pencils. The charcoal pencils are fairly decent as well. I would only use the dual hole sharpener provided along with the sander, if I was on the go. While at home I'll use my own sharpener. This set comes with everything a beginning artist would need to create a great sketch work. Not only that, but it's a good set to add to your supplies as well if you're running low. This set is a steal at the price when I received it. I did have some issues with the "hard" charcoal the very first time using it...it was scratchy in a sense. It didn't want to write on paper but I eventually got it working correctly. I would recommend this set for those just starting out learning about graphite & sketch...those who wish to add it to their collection for back up....or as a gift to that artist in your life.
