## Questions & Answers

**Q: would an impeller for a 70 fit into a 50? I would guess yes, because the motor is the same, but does anyone know for sure?**
A: This is an old question, but I thought I'd throw in a comment for people who find this in the future. Better for your tank to do the opposite. On a 30 gallon tank, we run the size 70 filter with the 50 impeller. That combines the larger quantity of filtering media of the 70 with the water flow from the 50, which is more appropriate to the tank size. With a 30 gallon tank, the 70 with the stock impeller would nominally cycle the tank 10 times per hour (300 gph), where the impeller from the 50 does 200 gph for about 6.7x per hour.

**Q: Why does my motor rattle**
A: Let's be clear on the terms here:
Impeller is only the green, finned, spinning propeller looking thing.
Rotor is the thing it snaps on to, and they both spin together.
Shaft is what all that slides down on inside the body of the motor.

My 110 has rattled since Day One three weeks ago. I'd read all about it before buying but figured all reviews seemed to agree these filters were top of the line, and I think mine is great. But it rattles quietly, slightly worse with the lid on as others have reported.

I think I know where exactly it is but not sure what to do about it.
Try this: take the motor off the filter (after emptying the water). Plug it in. Running it for a few seconds won't hurt it. Notice that the sound is coming from the impeller specifically.
Now pull the assembly out of the motor, take off the impeller from the rotor, reinsert the rotor and plug it in again. Silent.
I tried using something called Magik Lube, a silicon-based lubricant for pool stuff, around the inside of the impeller and reinstalled. It did silence it completely. For about 15 minutes, and it was back and that's as far as I got.

**Q: I have an old aquaclear 1000 is it the same part?**
A: this will only fit the aquaclear 110 and the old aquaclear 500.

**Q: Will this fit marineland penguin 350?**
A: I believe, it will. I, have Marineland Filters. They look, the same.
