IllumiPegFarm Refill templates for pre-1994 Original Lite Brite (10 Sheets, 9x12)

There aren't a ton of options out there in the correct size needed for the old school original Lite Brite, so I was happy to find these. I was even happier they were also priced well. The product was shipped and delivered on time, and the quality, size, print, etc., were all exactly as described. I'm very pleased with this purchase.

I recently bought a vintage Lite Brite this past Christmas for my nieces and nephews and it came with various original templates and over 600 pegs. The kids LOVED it! They completed a few of the original templates, lots of pegs, lots of color. When we finally got around to using one of these, it became obvious that these are not your parents Lite Brite templates. The light shines through the paper so you can see all the holes, which does not happen in the heavier construction paper style originals. It appears this is nothing more than copy paper with a black print coating on it. The designs are pretty basic compared to the vintage templates. As I mentioned, the originals used hundreds of pegs and utilized pretty equally all the colors. As you can see from some of the examples, these templates are pretty basic and worse yet, they tend to be VERY singly colored. We ran out of one color peg on every one we did, a problem we did not have with any of the original templates. I was disappointed in these. I wouldn't buy them again. I would look on eBay for vintage templates. The kids didn't mind or notice any of these issues, so it's not a one star, but be aware, these, like most everything else in this day and age are not made as well as the originals.

Our children loved their Lite Brite, and now that they have grown up we passed it on to their children so the next generation is enjoying it now. It was nice to be able to purchase this refill unit so that our grandchildren could have the same fun their parents did. They sent us pictures of the lighted work when they completed them, and it's a creative and fun toy once again.

My 4 year old is really into his mom's Lite Brite - so we swapped out the incandescent bulb with an LED bulb and got him some refill pages so he could make the designs himself. Everyone has been searching for the old school pages but they're very hard to come by and expensive when they're found. I bought these as a Christmas gift hoping he would have some new things to make - and they're okay for the most part...they fit the old school Lite Brite and the text is clear but they're WHITE on the back and harder to push the pegs through than the original construction paper style pages that were available back in the day.

My grandson found the old Lite Bright on the top shelf in a closet. There was only one paper left in it. He had so much fun with it, I wasn't sure if I could order more refills. After a little search, lo and behold, there they were. Not only does it keep him busy, but also stimulates his creativity. His anticipation grows as each little peg lights up. The first night, he used it as a night light in his room. I have to admit it was fun creating with him. Now my grown children suggest to their nephew to get it out and play. It makes for great bonding time!
