Review: Excellent gaming headset - This is my second Beyerdynamic headset, but my first time purchasing the MMX 330 pro. The TL;DR: this is an amazing gaming headset that I would recommend. I was worried because I saw a lot of negative reviews saying the mic didn't work. When I first got my headset, I couldn't hear the mic at all either. I plugged it all in, checked inputs/outputs, and thought "oh crap, I got a bad one too." But actually, there's a mute/unmute toggle switch that ships to muted by default. It's on the cable itself next to the volume rocker, and so you just need to unmute yourself. Maybe other reviewers truly had defective mics, but I wonder how many simply left it on mute lol. In their defense, the instructions/manual make zero mention of this and it's a miss on Beyerdynamic's part. Honestly that bit of the headset is the only real complaint I have. Whereas the rest of the headset feels quality, the volume/mic mute controls feel a bit cheaper since they're just simple plastic. It's also not placed in the most convenient location. But let's talk about that more in the pros/cons... Pros: - Incredible mic quality. Folks I game with often comment on how good my mic sounds. If you're getting bad mic sound, it's because you're placing the mic far too close to your mouth. This mic wants to be much further away. Try that and it will sound like a studio quality mic. - Great gaming audio. I can hear footsteps and the direction they're coming from without a problem. As long as the video game you're playing has good audio mixing, this headset will excel. Almost feels like cheating. - Really good music quality. Not nearly as good as my dedicated audio headset, but still very good for a gaming headset so it could serve as both if you're looking for an all-in-one headset. - Headset feels like quality, esp. compared to my prior gaming headset. - Ear pads are incredibly comfortable. Way more comfy than my DT770 pros. Super soft pads. I wish my pillow were this soft. Cons: - For the first few days, the headband was a bit too tight and clamping down on my jaw a bit. It clamps down quite a bit more than my other Beyerdynamics. However after maybe a week or so, this is no longer an issue. You can also play with positioning on your head and length, and that can help alleviate - As mentioned above, the box on the cable that controls mute/volume isn't great, esp. for the price of this headset. It feels like an afterthought that is lower quality and not ideally placed. If they make another version, they should improve this. - No good way to tell that the mic is muted. On my cheaper prior headset, the mic had an indicator light. This was very useful I miss it. I often forget I'm muted. - Not bluetooth capable, but if you're here you probably already know that. So yeah, overall I would definitely recommend this headset and I would purchase it again in a heartbeat.
Review: Open-back sound is legit, but read this before buying - I picked these up because I was tired of "gaming headsets" that sound like mush. I live in Delaware now (used to be in Florida), and between work calls, late-night gaming, and listening to music while I travel, I wanted one wired headset that actually sounded good. The open-back design caught my eye – I'd heard it gives you a way better sense of space in games, and I was curious if that was real or just marketing. My expectations were pretty specific. I wanted something comfortable for long sessions, a mic that didn't make me sound like I was in a tin can, and sound quality that let me actually hear footsteps or directional cues. I knew open-back means no noise isolation and sound leaks out, so I was prepared for that. The pros (what works well) The soundstage is the real deal. In games like Counter-Strike or Hellblade, you can actually tell where sounds are coming from – not just left/right, but distance and height too . Footsteps, reloads, environmental stuff – it's way more precise than any closed-back "gaming" headset I've tried. The mic is surprisingly good. It's a condenser mic with a cardioid pattern, so it picks up your voice clearly and ignores background noise . My friends on Discord said I sounded "like I was in the room" compared to my old headset. The flexible boom arm stays where you put it. Comfort is solid for most people. The velour earpads are soft and breathable, and the headband has a cutout for the top of your skull so you don't get that hot spot . I wore these for a four-hour gaming session and forgot I had them on. Build quality feels good – metal parts, sturdy construction, and it's handmade in Germany . Replacement parts are available if something wears out, which is rare for gaming headsets. The cons (read these carefully) The price is a hurdle. At around $300, this is expensive for a wired headset – there are wireless options with more features for the same or less money . You're paying for audio quality, not extras. No carrying case included. For a $300 headset, that stings. It doesn't fold flat either, so traveling with it is annoying . Since I travel a fair bit, that's a genuine headache. Fits large heads better than small ones. Multiple reviewers note that even on the smallest setting, the headband sits too low – the earpads can rest on your jawbone, which gets uncomfortable fast . If you have a smaller head, try these on somewhere first if you can. Some quality control complaints exist. A few buyers reported channel imbalance (left side louder than right) or creaking in the left earcup after a couple months . Not everyone sees this, but it's worth knowing. The bass is light. Open-back design means less low-end punch. For competitive gaming where you want to hear footsteps, that's fine. For hip-hop or action movies? You'll notice it's thin . Real-world use For competitive gaming and any game where spatial awareness matters – these are fantastic. For music, they're detailed and clear but lack warmth. For travel? Not ideal – they're bulky, don't fold, and no case. For Zoom calls? The mic is overkill but works great. Value for money That's the tricky part. You're getting studio-grade sound and a broadcast-quality mic in one package. But you're also paying a premium for "Made in Germany" and a brand name . A cheaper alternative? Buy Beyerdynamic's DT 900 Pro X headphones ($250) and add a separate mic. Same drivers, similar sound, more flexibility . Did it meet my expectations? Mostly yes on sound and mic quality. Partly no on price, fit concerns, and travel-friendliness. If you have a larger head, game at a desk, and value audio quality over RGB or wireless convenience – this delivers. If you have a smaller head, travel with your gear, or want booming bass – look elsewhere. Final Rating: 4 out of 5 stars. Docked one star for the price and fit issues for smaller heads. Great sound, great mic, but know what you're getting into.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best headset/headphones I have ever used in my life
*by E***L on April 10, 2026*

These headphones are legitimately amazing, they are extremely comfortable, have one of the best onboard microphones that I receive compliments about online from other people and the sound is amazing. Unlike a lot of high end cans these do not require EQ and sound great out of the box as they are tuned slightly from the factory so they don't sound too sterile. They also look great and high quality, I only wish the microphone was removable however since these live at home on my desk for PC gaming it isn't a big deal. For gaming these are amazing, I can hear everything ingame much better than before, footsteps for example are very obvious with these cans and the positioning is good as well, if the game's sound design is done well I can often hear where shots or footsteps are coming from, usually well before my teammates can. Make sure to use a DAC with these, doesn't need to be anything fancy a simple Apple USBC-to-3.5mm adapter will do the trick, this will allow the headphones to be driven at 100% as often times a PC's integrated headphone port is underpowered. In my case the volume was too low, once I plugged the cans into my PC using the Apple adapter my volume rarely goes above 50% in Windows! Also, as with many cans they will be tight at first, I have a huge head and they fit fine so they will definitely fit you too, just make sure you give them time to stretch out, if you want to accelerate the proccess you can wrap them around a few books overnight to stretch them out more. TL;DR - If you're looking for an amazing gaming headset that sounds great, feels great and won't require you to sell your kidneys to get, you found it! 5/5
