Beautiful Set
I think this product is getting some bad press. I will say it is a bit high maintenance but I think smaller tanks are, in terms of cleaning and care, it just takes a bit more to do. In this case there are three small tanks and a reservoir collection on the bottom. It is visually very pretty to look at and I think if you are looking for unique things you should be willing to put in a little extra time for care. This set was easy to assemble. I fumbled with the lids just a little bit but I figured them out. With the lids in place the grate keeps the fish in place just fine. I placed both a heater in the bottom reservoir and a submersible light. Over the top of the tanks with clear lids I placed a bright white LED goose necked lamp with a light bar. So I can do blue light at night and use the white light to truly see my two bettas and the temporary spot for an African Dwarf Frog who had a place in a bigger aquarium but was being picked on. The flow on the filter is fine for my fish with the center spot perhaps having the calmest water, though my betta are fine in the current. I did have a scare setting it up like other people have talked about, I took the lid off the last bay and using a net put in the final betta and he swam so quick from the net he went in through the waterfall space and down into the reservoir! For a moment I could not find him but thanks to the reviews I knew where he had gone. I found him easily and all is well. I do have tape on the lids because I am concerned about my cat's curiosity but they hold on well enough I am not really that worried. Anyway, this tank is beautiful and my fish are happy. My frog is enjoying his temporary home too. I think there's a possibility of buying another set. I wouldn't let the less happy reviews stop you from buying this product and use that advice only to help you look out for possible problems during assembly and after. I'll update if any problems come up later, but so far I am very pleased.

Betta Blockers, LOLz
((Update below original review)) Prior to purchase and after reading some reviews, I thought I would have to put blockers in between the tank outputs to prevent the bettas from getting into the other tanks... To prevent this KEEP THE LIDS ON - the lids have built-in grates that prevent this. Water flow - TURN that little pump all the way DOWN (default is all the way high, low & high marked on the pump). Put a small submersible heater in the bottom (unless your room temperature is 76-80), it fits and there is an opening for the cord - pump cord fits through it as well. The tank is quiet - initially, I was worried because of the "waterfall" in the last compartment, but as long as the water level is at the "Max" line - all is quiet! Note that initial filling was done by adding water halfway to each compartment and the filter reservoir, turning on the pump and then raising water level until Max reached (Max water level indicated on the front of Betta Falls). The filter cartridge is "Aqueon QuietFlow Filter Cartridge, Medium," (available for purchase on Amazon or at Petco). I added live plants and I'm letting the tank cycle before adding bettas (about a week). The water flow (dialed down to low) is not pushing the plants around, so it's enough to keep the water circulated with the heater. I'll edit this review after adding bettas if there are any problems, though I don't expect any. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 7/16/18 Update Made some modifications to the tank (photos attached). I took some thin plastic grate (purchased from a home improvement store, very cheap), cut it, and secured it over the grates with small zip ties. I did this because the betta in the first tank was getting his tail sucked through (he was staying in the tank, but unable to move). This modification fixed that. I went ahead and moved this particular betta to the last tank because he's small and the flow there is the least. I also affixed the plastic grate in the last tank. The middle betta is perfectly fine and did not have any trouble, however, I added the plastic grate to his tank as well just in case. I trimmed his grate to just below the water release point though because the longer grate was creating more of a suction and he spends more time at the top. I recommend putting a larger betta in the first tank. The older betta I moved there is completely happy. I do turn off the filter to feed them (left off for about five minutes). The leaves in the photos are Indian Almond Leaves (beneficial to bettas and lowers the ph naturally).

So disappointed and feel real bad for my Betta
When I recieved this I was very happy because this looks very nice and I was able to put 3 of my male Betta's together, the aquarium is very eye pleasing. And the following day I went to greet them as usual before I start my day and notice 1 of my male Betta's missing, I thought what the heck?!, I thought that maybe it might of jumped out of it's container so I looked all over and nothing, then I noticed the filter was off which was weird since the filter was working properly last night... I decided to lift up the empty container and there was my Betta in the holding tank of water! I scooped him up with my fishnet and after I put him back into his container I noticed his Finns looked all chopped up!😭😭😭😔, my beautiful Betta... went through the water fountain to the bottom tank, he is still alive and now I have him quarantined and giving him medicine for relief and hopefully his finns will grow back in time. I returned because of this experience, as a lover of animals including fish, this hurt seeing that my beautiful betta ended up looking like this, like I said time will tell if his Finns will grow back with medication I'm giving him..... I have a total of 5 Male Betta and 6 Female Betta's, I love the beauty of these fish and enjoy watching how they come to me when I either am going to feed them or just getting near to say hi to them❤️ the female Betta's are all in a 10 gallon aquarium and live together just fine along with some Tettras for company, it may have been a fluke that this happened, but anyone who wants to purchase just be aware that it could happen..... P.S. I do want to add, the water flow WAS gentle and I also had water plants near the fountain where water flows in each tank and a plant where they can rest over it, it is very eye pleasing as I stated when I began writing the review, I just didn't want to risk my other Betta's being injured too.....

Nice tank just a bit of work
I received as a gift, read the reviews to figure out the plus and minuses of the tank. It took me a month or so to actually set up but I really like the tank. Some of the negatives are correct and some are not. The positives is it does really display nicely. I have a beta in each section and they are doing well. The negative is it is more high maintenance than a normal tank. Not so much due to it's size but rather it loses water through evaporation rather quickly since it is not a closed system. For the filter to run correctly, it really needs to be at the max level and I have to fill it about every 2 days. The other negative is it is only good for beta fish and a crab or something (another review says) which is true due to it's size. Now some of the misconceptions that other reviews mentioned or maybe the design has been modified since their reviews, the fish WILL not get swept into the next section, there are grates built into the lids to stop that so if properly installed, they will not. I did have the bottom section fish go into the bottom twice but that was because the lid was not installed correctly. The power of the filter is not that bad if set low and I find the fish adjust fine to it. They do need time to adjust. I do have beta leafs strategically placed at the outflow of the 3 tanks to help the betas from getting swept into the grates but I do not feel I really need to do it now. I do follow the previous reviewers advice and do not run the filter 24/7. I actually run the filter twice a day between feedings for up to 5 hours during the day and in the evening 2 hours. I do turn it off at night so they can "rest" at night however it has accidently been left on all night before and they seemed fine. I do turn it off for feeding as the food. Flake food will get pushed into the tank just like a full size and float throughout and will get swept into the next eventually. I have fed the beta pellets while the filter is on and they do not get pushed around that much. I use both at various times of the day. I do clean the individual tanks but clean the filter only (I have not tried to buy a replacement filter so do not know about that yet). As far as heater, I just used a beta heater and it goes in the bottom which works great but remember, you cannot put the tank in a cold location because the heated water only goes into their individual tanks if you keep the filter running all the time. One person commented about using a timer for the filter which I have done but to refill it, you need the filter running to see how low the water level is. For lighting, I am using an outside like that attaches to one of the tanks but moved it to the filter tower (more evaporation) as where ever you attach it, the lid to that section does not lay flat. Maybe a true separate light would be better to keep the system more enclosed but if you do not have much room, the attached light does not take up more. Overall, I really like it. I would recommend getting it completely as I say it is higher maintenance, it is but we are talking a few minutes every other day or two which is more than other tanks but really is nominal in a day.

LOVE THIS TANK!! Don't let the negative reviews deter you! (Updated to add pictures)
I was really leery about getting this tank, but I am SO glad I did! I honestly don't know why people have said it's loud & the current is too strong... Mine has neither issue! The motor is whisper quiet and on the lowest setting, the current is fine. Maybe people didn't put enough water in the reserve? Idk. Don't let people's negative reviews that say their fish got sucked down to the next tank deter you from buying this tank. Do the additions as a lot of people have suggested and you will love it just as much as I love mine!! **Update 2/13/17** I made the necessary addition to eliminate the "gap" that everyone mentioned and it works just fine. I found single sheets of plastic canvas mesh at Joann Fabrics for under $2, even though I only used a small portion. I got one with bigger squares to help with water flow, and I'm glad I did. The water in the first tank is higher than the other 2 tanks, but I think had the squares in the mesh been smaller, it would have stopped up the water too much. I adhered it to the side of the tank with super glue, which happens to be water resistant. I did notice that the current was pretty strong for my betta in the 2nd tank, as his fin would go through the slots when I had the tank plugged in. I just did what I did for the other side with the canvas mesh and he's much happier. He actually likes to chill up on the mesh, as opposed to swimming around. With the canvas mesh additions, I've noticed that the water flowing between the 2nd & 3rd tanks has gotten louder. I'm not thrilled with it, but it is more than tolerable. It sounds like a waterfall, which is the point of the tank overall. It's pretty relaxing, in my opinion! **Update 3/29/17** Added photos and also to show that my fish are all still doing great! I cleaned the tanks and replaced the filter (found a 3 pack at Petsmart for $14). It was certainly a bit of a hassle to do, but I had also really let mine get nasty before I finally took care of it lol. Also, I didn't mention before that I do unplug the filter when I feed my fish. Otherwise, the food just drops to the bottom with the flow of the water. Just an FYI! Photo explanations: 1. Front view (fish names top to bottom: 1 - Bubbles, 2 - Kaner, 3 - Drago. Just for fun :)) 2. Side angle 3. Showing the desk lamp I purchased from Walmart (it was around $8 I believe and is LED). 4. Underwater view of plastic mesh additions in 1st & 2nd tanks 5. 1st tank plastic mesh addition (and yikes, I need to clean that better) 6. 2nd tank plastic mesh addition

Beautiful Aquarium Set with some Issues
Beautiful Aquarium Kit. Very nice display piece for my office as it looks like a work of art. Muddled side panels keep the fish in each tank from seeing each other (a must for Bettas for those unaware). Gentle "waterfall" effect from tank to tank. Noisy if the water level gets too low, but if kept up, this shouldn't be an issue for quiet spaces. Pump is sturdy (but see issues below). Easy to maintain with replaceable filters. Just have to do a full clean once a month as it will get algae\schmutz from regular use. Issues: *Pump is too strong and was forcing the bettas to hide in the corner to avoid the flow and getting pushed around. Had to turn it off until I had to jury rig a fix whereby I used a clamp to lower the amount going up the feed tube to lessen the water flow. Still had to turn it off for feeding time because the food would either go down the waterfall into the next tank or get stuck on the rim where the bettas won't go (again because of the flow). The next model that comes out needs a flow regulator switch with pressure options on it. *Space is lacking. It's really hard to decorate the tanks with anything as they are very small spaces. Would be nice if they were a bit larger for both more decor and for the bettas to have more freedom (although I know this would kind of ruin the size appeal of the aquarium). All in all, the unit is very nice, but needs improvement on the next model that comes out. If they can add some fixes (and increase the size of the tanks), I would look at purchasing it again. "C+\B-" Rating.

Love it!
Love this and... I just want to respond to some of the people who have written reviews here. 1. When I first set this up, I noticed it's easy to put the tank tops on incorrectly so that's why the betas were able to get into another tank. When applied correctly there is a grid that prevents this. 2. The motor does make a noise when the pump is not set correctly into the uptake tube. Once you fix that it's silent. 3. If you set the pump on low you can easily feed the fish with the tank plugged in. I assume you use the pellets, not flakes. For my tank I got the flexible lights in white and another set in rotating colors. It look great and the fish seem happy! Love it! Update, THis is by far the best beta tank I have ever owned. It's easy to maintain and the fish love it I added the artificial plants as shown and the fish love to hide behind to sleep. They can't see each other so they are not stressed.
