Butane Torch Lighter Refillable Kitchen Torch Butane Lighters for Camping Grill Baking BBQ

This torch is enjoyable to use. It has a nice base so you can set it down, stays lit unless you point it at the counter (I found this out the hard way), and has a button on the back that keeps it going. I filled it with butane with no problem. The plastic does feel a bit cheap, but if you don't need it in a professional situation I think you'll be fine.

I got this to light small wood chips on fire then put a drinking glass over top to catch the smoke for flavoring on cocktails. So I haven't really put it through any strenuous cooking tests. I was looking for a torch that was affordable, high powered, shot the flame to the side (as opposed to flames coming out the top), and was precise since I would be using it close to table tops/chairs/etc. This item covers all of those things. I attached some pictures to give examples of both the highest and lowest flame settings. First, the lighter will light at about 50% power and above; I couldn't get it to successfully light at anything lower. Once it was lit, you can lock it on and adjust the flame up and down as needed. The lowest flame was virtually unusable because it was so recessed into the lighter. The highest flame comes out into a 'fatter' point than I would like and you also get a flat, blue crown around the base of the flame that really is just a waste of fuel since you're not using that part of the flame. You can adjust it down so that the tip is skinnier and part of the bluest section of flame---that is the sweet spot that I use.

This torch is awesome. Fill it with some butane and you are good to go. With an adjustable flame from small to near flamethrower, it can do anything from light a candle to brulee my favorite desserts. The lock feature is great so even my pre-teen can not pick it up and just start lighting the cat on fire, instead I can stop that before it happens. A great all-around product that has lasted me a few months now with no sign of slowing down.

This hand held torch was easy to fill with butane (simply turn upside down and insert top of butane can. Less than 10 seconds and it was full. After letting sit for a couple minutes for the gas to settle, the torch ignited on the first try. It has a nice adjustable flame (I suppose so you can feel like Johnny Storm from Fantastic Four) and fits nicely in my hand. Depending on the kind of work you're using the torch for, the flame can be locked in the "on" position. This was a great pickup and will work perfectly with my cocktail smoker kit!

I was encouraged by other reviews for this, but when I tried to use it, it did not work. There is no way to know if you've filled it with butane. I followed the instructions and just ended up with butane all over my hands and in my sink. I shook it a bit and it sounded like SOME of it actually entered the chamber it's supposed to go in, but I could not get it to light. Now I need to figure out how to responsibly dispose of a plastic/metal lighter with butane in it.

I'm a pastry chef and I've been using an industrial-style igniter on a large propane canister for years. Works great but it's kind of bulky and doesn't fit in my toolbox. So I decided to give this compact torch a try. It's easy to fill with a butane canister.....takes about 10-15 seconds. It lights immediately when the trigger is pressed and stays on as long as you keep your thumb on it. There's a way to keep it going without having to keep your thumb on the trigger by somehow twisting it while it's already lit, but I guess I'm not coordinated enough to figure that part out, so I just keep my thumb on it. I primarily use a torch to burn the tops of creme brulees and it worked OK for that, but I did notice if you aim the flame downward it tends to extinguish. So I can use it but I have to keep it as upright as possible. I also use the torch to de-pan frozen desserts and because my hands are pretty arthritic I can't really keep my thumb on the trigger long enough to perform that task and I go back to my industrial torch. So it's kind of OK for one thing, not so much for others, unfortunately.

This torch fills its role. It is solid enough but of course the plastic parts are plastic. I was able to get variable flame all through the dial range though others have indicated they weren't able to. Mine also kept a flame even while pointed toward the floor. Again, others have seemed to have an issue in this area. To be clear: If this little torch can't point downward while maintaining flame, I'd regard it as useless. My copy works so I'm happy. No surprises in this torch but also no "wow" features. If you like the price, buy it. However if you have an issue such as the dial not adjusting the flame, or it not working when pointed downward, I would not put up with that myself... Best luck, ~Cheers!

Torch is easy to fill. Lights consistently and stays lit, unless you aim it directly down. Flame control is great as well. I like the button to leave it on, if needed but mostly I am torching bubbles in my fluid art paintings so it's a quick on/off use. Have also used to melt the marshmallows on my sweet potatoes and it is perfect!
