Context: I live in the Sonoran Desert. Changing worn weather stripping and windshield wipers is a state sport out here. It was time to take care of my front door again, so I thought I’d try this to see if it was as good quality as I’m used to, and to see if it might last longer than some of the competition.Let me start with I am a construction professional for over 40 years. I have installed this type of door insulation hundreds of times in that time span. That said, I want to start with, if you want to use this product, then make sure the door is designed to receive it. This means the door jamb stop (The part the door “stops” against when closed has a slot (See photo) for the rubberized flange to tuck into. This is what keeps the seal in place when in use. If you don’t have this slot, you are likely better off with a different product that is adhesive backed.After you receive the product, the installation is straightforward and can be accomplished with a good pair of scissors. Install the piece across the top of the door first then move on to the upright sides. Simply cut the pieces to length and then cut a 45-degree corner to fit. It is best if you cut the corner a little long on the uprights, read over 45-degrees, and then you can trim a little at a time to adjust to get the fit right. These seals work as well as any purchased in a big box and are the same as I would get professionally, so the quality is good, and they work for any size door. The 40 feet of product length is handy, too, as you can do several doors with one package as the typical door takes just under 17 feet.While I think it’s going to fare about the same in our weather as the commercial stuff I’m used to, all in all, I can easily recommend.

This is a quality made kerf weatherstrip that seals doors with larger than typical gaps between the door and doir jamb. It is made for those doors where there is a press-in groove in the jamb. It is not for flat surface installation where an adhesive weatherstrip would be used.What I like…- Wider than typical, fits bigger gaps. My front door is a custom mahogany door and has a wide gap that standard weatherstrip barely seals.- Easy cut to fit. Long enough for at least two doors.- Includes adhesive-backed foam wedges to seal at the bottom on the sides where there's always a gap.- Textured surface isn't prone to stick to paint or finish on the door.I didn't observe any shortcomings.The package included the roll of weatherstrip, eight adhesive wedge seals and six surface prep pads for better adhesion. No installation guide was provided.Installation is typical for this type of weatherstripping. There are many online videos available to guide how to get the best seal. Pro tip: though many recommend a 45 degree angle in the corners, they almost always leave a gap. A better approach is to have the joint at overlapping 90 degree angle, cutting the seal backing so the top seal fits over the side seal. Look for this method in videos.Now, no cold drafts. I put on some weather stripping on my double french drawers a couple of months go. Noticed a gap. I was looking for something a bit bigger in all 3 directions. This stripping is about an 1/8th of an inch wider and longer. It filled in the gap nicely and has been working well. Easy to install. Also came with some wedges, but I have not used those yet. A good product. Works well.
