Pepy White Charcoal Pencils are soft, full pigment, bright, pro quality, great value.
I love these pencils. With pigmented sketching papers, white pencil sketches are some of my favorite art styles to admire. I am a hobby crafts person and a willing student, still learning the techniques of drawing. Given the correct drawing paper, soft to intense colors, these pencils lay down just the level of transfer you'd expect given the pressure used. One pencil and varied bluntness of sharpened tip can create a number of effects easily. The paper helps to grab the charcoal and hold it on the paper.I will tell you that I tried using these white charcoal pencils on other surfaces like cardboard, black boxes, colored construction paper, and the pencils performed in a more wax resist way, so paper type is important. In other words, don't blame the pencils, check your paper.I have not experienced any breakage. Pretty nice art pencils.5 stars

Fantastic Charcoal Pencils
Not long ago I picked these up for use with my art and drawing, and I have to tell you that they are incredible pencils. I love the fact that you get several pencils for the price point of what you'd pay for two at the art store.I love the feel of these charcoal pencils, and the white color really stands out against a black background, and they work wonderfully well on both paper as well as canvas.Overall they are an incredible buy, don't hesitate.

Great Whites
Good color, good spread, excellent craftsmanship, better price. You'll be happy you bought these, trust me. One of the pencils did come with the tip broken off. Could have been transit, not even a minor issue, but that was literally the only slight thing wrong. I have a sharpener so that's an easy fix.

Very white charcoal on dark paper
I received the charcoal pencils and thought it would be a selection of 6 degrees of hardness.in the pencil set The pencil box said “selection”, however they seem to be exactly the same pencil hardness. There is no designation marked on the pencils. I drew a quick winter scene with using each pencil and even though it looked good, there was no distinction on the hardness of the pencil. Pros: nice white charcoal, easy to draw with. Con: all the same degree of charcoal. The description said “available in a full range of hardness, including hard, medium, soft and white. So maybe I misunderstood this was not a selection of degrees of hardness.

Great for beginning artist.
It’s been a while since I’ve sketched and I wanted to try a new medium. I really like these pencils. They shade nicely and I like the feel of them against the paper. The contrast of the white on dark paper is nice and they work really well for highlighting.

Difficult to work with
This is a package of pre-sharpened (fine point) white charcoal pencils. All the pencils in the pack are identical, although the product description implies there are varying hardnesses. There is no hardness indicator on either the package or the individual pencils. When working with charcoal on white paper, most drawers will simply let the white paper do the work of highlights. White charcoal, a commonly used term but a misnomer, is mostly used on dark colored papers to add highlighting. Still, the medium should be easy to draw with, easy to blend, and easy to erase. You also want the white to be as pure as possible, not yellowish or gray. These pencils do not fulfill those requirements for a good quality white charcoals.First, I had to wear down the points a bit to even get the pencil to bite the paper. It takes too much pressure to get a line with these. It was like trying to get a dried-up pen to write. Blending is nearly impossible with them, and there is no erasing marks without hewing up the (already stressed by the pressure needed) paper. It seems like they got a little easier to use after a few minutes of continuous attempts, so I wonder if the binder is maybe a wax or oil base that was responding to heat from continuous friction. In any event, I wouldn't give this to a student or new sketcher. It will only frustrate them. And I don't think a serious artist would bother with them.

Nice White Charcoal Pencils - Sad that most arrived with broken tips
I recently ordered Pepy Professional White Charcoal Pencil Set – Set of 6 Pre-Sharpened White Charcoal Pencils; Perfect for Drawing, Sketching, Blending and Shading.I do a lot of drawing and love using white charcoal pencils to help highlight areas that need it. I was excited to be getting 5 new pencils - all sharpened. I love the thickness of the pencils and they are easy to find in my pencil box. The tips are pretty wide so I am surprised that I had 3 of the 5 broken. This is the only thing that I am disappointed with. I really wish that all 5 arrived with unbroken tips. (this is the only reason I deducted 1 star). Other than that - these are great quality pencils.
