You need carpet to carpet or tile to tile. Both the same height. **Q: What are the dimensions of this item?** A: Hello Connor, the dimensions are as you look at it on the top 20mm, tapper 14mm, side on depth 10mm. I had to cut the length to fit in the doorframe, and then removed the backing strip to expose adhesive, the pressed it down on to the floor surface, I would suggest placing a weight, brick/block to ensure even pressure, I left mine for 24hrs, then remove.
