Govee Star Light Projector with 3 Aurora Flowing Effects

I looked at the reviews of several of these lights. I was convinced to buy this one when it went on sale, because it had some features others didn’t, like adjustable star lights and a tilting mount to allow for directing the lights where you want. The light pattern is beautiful and mesmerizing. I have it near my bed aimed at the ceiling. It’s nice for winding down. For those who read reviews closely, I wanted to chime in on drawbacks that others said. 1) It seems silly to say that the light pattern moves too quickly or that the light isn’t bright enough, because downloading the app allows you to change the relative brightness and speed of movement for both the stars and the aurora individually as well as the overall brightness. When I first turned it on, I thought the movement and light level were perfect, but that’s a matter of taste. 2) The “loud” whirring sound is really not that loud. You would have to prefer absolute silence (which is usually impossible to achieve) for this to be loud. It’s noticeable, but seemed very light compared to what some of the reviews suggested. Some drawbacks: 1) it’s original price of about $80 seemed too much to me, especially since it didn’t have its own power block. But for the quality and variety of options, the sale price of $55 is worth it to me. And I happened to have a pack of USB power blocks I already bought that worked great. 2) If you’re interested in the white noise selection, personally I only like one of them. Some of this is taste. I don’t prefer bird sounds as white noise or wind chimes. But the kinds I do usually like (wind, water) were not good sound quality. The one titled “drizzle” is the only one I’d probably use and maybe one of the soothing music sounds. 3) It would be nice if the stars covered more of the overall pattern and weren’t so compact. However, I do really like that the stars move, and the app control is really easy and a nice feature, especially since I plan to use this as I am laying in bed before sleep. It basically makes your phone a remote control. Overall, I’m really happy with this, and I even was thinking of people I wanted to give this to, so long as the sale continues.

I purchased this product for a Christmas present for my son, but my partner wanted it more. We didn't actually open it and set it up until a month after the holiday. The Aurora lights are AMAZING, with stars and accompanying sounds. We did have a small issue with a few of the light settings, that had a notable glitch and would flash at high speed. We contacted Govee and they responded immediately with instructions on how to reset to the factory defaults. Unfortunately, that did not fix our problem, so we reached back out to the company, who again, responded almost instantly with some of the best customer service I have ever experienced. They immediately sent us a replacement, which is working perfectly! My partner LOVES this projector and falls asleep to it every night. The colors are beautiful, the movement of the lights is really soothing and it has been a really lovely addition to our bedtime routine. I highly recommend this product, not just for the wonderfulness of the product, but also for the absolutely stellar and fantastic customer service! You will not regret this purchase ~ it is all that is says and more...including a wonderful company backing up their fabulous products!

Overall, I like these. They feel solidly built, they seem like they will last for a few years, and they work well. Compared to other cheaper star projectors I have had it does incredible - the colors are vibrant, the stars twinkle and move around, it’s great. I love Govee for how customizable their lights are. The app is pretty intuitive, but if you are searching for other folk’s light schemes on there with this projector in mind it is hard to find. I don’t use the timer function, it would turn off the projector too quickly for my liking so I turned it off. Five cons in my opinion: 1) this thing is massive. It’s not something you can hide away, and it’s not really attractive. 2) it has a USB cable that is very short, so I can’t have it on the top of a shelf like I would want. 3) the Govee app makes finding color combinations for these things a bit tough and you can spend hours messing with them. 4) they are too expensive for what they are worth. I would pay $40 for this in a heartbeat but more than that is a tough sell. 5) the placement has to be strategic because the projection and lasers can be blinding when you cross their path.

This has been the best purchases I’ve made in a long time! It’s so relaxing to watch. The app that accompanies the machine is great. The colors and options are also great. The machine makes no operating noise at all. Two things I’m not as fond of- the stars and the sounds. The stars are green. Why? Who knows. Luckily, you can just turn them off. Some of the sounds are good. Breeze (white noise) is good. The river sound is tolerable. The bonfire sound? Terrible.

I got this for my son for his birthday and I have to say this is a very lovely star projector! You can add different colors for different effects, there are so many options for this thing and I feel like the more you customize the lights the more beautiful it becomes. We use it as a night light for my son, and he absolutely loves it just as much as we do. It’s easy to use the app to change the settings, the lights are bright and very colorful and bold. You can customize the dimness or brightness. It seems like a pretty sturdy machine, it has a nice base so it doesn’t fall over easily as well. We got it on sale so we didn’t pay full price, but I absolutely would pay full price for this it’s worth every penny spent. Try it if you’re reading this! You can’t go wrong!

It's a decent product, but definitely not perfect. It’s kind of expensive for what it is, so I’d recommend waiting for a sale like I did. It feels lightweight and a bit flimsy out of the box, but it does what it advertises. It projects aurora effects and stars pretty well. I rarely use it, to be honest, but when I do, it’s a fun addition to the room. One reason I chose this one was because it’s the only one I found that offers app control, which is super convenient. That said, the software could use some improvement. There are tons of color presets, but you can’t really fine tune your own colors or fully customize the effects. And the stars are always green, which really bugs me. Would have loved more color options there. Also just a heads up it can get pretty loud, especially if you’re using it in a quiet room at night. Overall, it’s a cool looking projector with a lot of potential, but not without its flaws. Worth it on sale, but manage your expectations.

This is so cool. We have all our lamps controlled by Govee and it is so nice to be able to control them all on our phones. This projector is so fun to sit and look at. It has so many different options and who’ll even play sounds.

16 million colors is an insane stretch, false advertising. It can’t produce amber, a simple blend of green and red, therefor when you set it to amber , it’s just red with greens hues. Blues seem to blend into greens fine, but nothing will blend into red without producing hues. Also, there seems to be a small micro studder, nothing compared to motorized moving sphere studders (cheaper unit I upgraded from) but, it will studder just barely . 2 stars for decent product, nothing really better at this price range, willing to keep it just for the fact that it good enough, also , no noise from my unit, compared to other reviews. Just start up/ shut down sound which I think can be turned off anyways The pic included is what “amber” looks like, as you can see it barely blends, no matter the distance too.

We've had Govee lighting for a while now, including their outdoor lights, so I felt confident trying this projector for our kids' room. I wanted something that would create a calm, relaxing atmosphere at bedtime, and it exceeded my expectations. The colours are vibrant, it's much brighter than I expected, and there are lots of different lighting effects to choose from. My kids love changing the colours, and the music feature is a fun bonus. Once the lights are off, the projector looks absolutely beautiful. Like most projectors, it performs best in a darker room. If there's a lot of light coming in, the effect isn't quite as strong, but I think that's pretty typical and wasn't an issue for me. Overall, this has been a really fun addition to their room. My kids ask me to turn it on every night before bed, and I'd definitely buy it again.

This light projector is really nice, although I would've wanted the stars to be blue instead of green, but it’s a really nice product overall and definitely the best in the market right now. Too overpriced though

This product is really, really, really good at its job of projecting multicoloured, stunning, and vivid auroras. The stars it projects I don’t use as they are green but they do seem to move around nicely if that’s your thing. As for the noise (or lack thereof). They sent me an email saying that people complained of it but that is only really noticeable when the stars are on. I don’t use the stars so don’t experience the noise. There is plenty of customisation including make your own own auroras. Let me emphasis how beautiful the projection of the Aurora is. Smooth, flowing, vivid, varied. You could just stare at it for hours. As I have. You’ll most likely need a place like a bookshelf to place it as the Aurora projects best next to the ceiling. There’s not much more to say really. Serves its purpose perfectly. Worth the splurge.

This is my favourite smart light in my home right now. We have a vast Govee collection and this light is spectacular. It does have a motor noise, but you can adjust the light settings to reduce it. The light stays on for 4 hours and you can set timers with it in the Govee app which works flawlessly. It's such a pretty light with so many star dots that even the cats love looking at it. Highly recommend.
