Good for the money
I have a Fiio M11S that I manged to bounce off the foot of my chair and crack the screen. I sent that to China for repair and sat without a music player. Then I bought an M300 which couldn't drive my cans. I sold that and bought this. It is good. It is also nicely styled IMO. I bought a separate strap which is also v good. The MSEB equaliser is beyond me but is very capable. It sounds quite neutral and I can't quite get the bass to where I like it. I would recommend it but...my music is on a separate sd card for convenience although I write to it though usb typically. From fiio to hiby no issue. From hiby to fiio however there appears to be some incompatibility in file format. Even though they look the same, neither the fiio nor my laptop can see anything written to the sd card whilst it was mounted in the R4. I had to delete the files in the R4 then rewrite the to the sd card from my laptop. So. Yeah. That's a thing.

Pleasing sound reproduction
Very pleased with sound. I'm using the 4.4 mm jack with quality iem's. I would describe the sound as organic and pleasant. This is my first DAP, and once you can master the android configurations, it is a multi-functional device. Still trying to work out how to use as a Bluetooth receiver with my Apple TV which is confounded with the Bluetooth Pairing PIN codes. Overall, this is amazing value with almost tube like sound.

Great sound, awkward buttons
I'm at the amateur end of the audiophile spectrum, having recently re-discovered hi-res audio. I chose the R4 as the price seemed decent, reviews good, spec good for the price.I am not disappointed. It sounds great through my Sennheiser Momentum 4s (wired) and also HD 599s.Battery seems strong, its brand new of course its strong, but it looks to have a large capacity for multiple days of use.The onboard equaliser is epic and allows an incredible level of fine tuning. I'm really happy with the sound this thing produces. The operating system is relatively simple being Android. The one disappointment is the physical buttons. Whilst I am grateful for there to even be chunky buttons, they are temperamental. The play/pause button sometimes doesn't work first time. Sometimes it does. Sometimes it needs a 2nd press, almost like it needs waking up. In addition it is all too easy to accidentally pick up the unit and accidentally press a button. Sliding the R4 into a pocket triggers the buttons too. Annoying. But since i only really listen to music at my work desk, its not a huge problem.I'm yet to download any music to the device or use its expandable storage, choosing to stream via Tidal so far. It has been everything I wanted and I'm happy with it.

Seriously great buy, really cool little audio tech piece.
Let me start by saying I'm not an Audiophile. It sounds great to me playing through a Sony Bluetooth speaker SRS-x9 . Real definition between the instruments, really impressive like you want to demonstrate it to someone.Package is good , you get a silicone sleeve for the player and transfer cable. If you were to buy this as a gift for someone I'm sure it would be very appreciated, packaging is that good. And the player is brilliant.

Incredible player for the price
Without doing long long review as they are all across net.I compared and own AK SR25 and I think this player is actually better than device costing 2x as much.It drives on low gain my HIFIMan 1000SE, Arya and Sundaras with no problem at all where AK struggles a bit.Quality top notch, battery like decent the only small downside is the HiBy app.Bluetooth awesome for those public transport trips and works great with 1000mx wireless headphones.Comes with case too which is nice touch.

Top end Hi-Fi in your pocket!
I have a Hi-Fi system of Separates I've been collecting over the decades, one piece here, another piece another year etc, due to the high end quality of each audiophile level item, and the fact that I'm now a disabled, Ex self employed Promoter and semi pro resident DJ at the promotions company I ran. The record boxes were hard enough on my body (my Business ran from 1992 to 2003,so it was all pre-digital, OLD-SKOOL, propper OG, Underground and Proud!) so, record boxes = heavy, but 30Kw Opus Turbo Sub-Bass sound systems with an extra 20Kw of Sub-Bassbins big enough for 2 people to dance on, and a triangular tubular steel scaffold lighting rig with up to 30 computer run, sound controlled lights & lasers, it all adds up over the years, setting it up, breaking it down, and working the room from 5pm till 4-5am. your body soon gives up on you. BUT, you develop an incredibly keen sense of sound over the years, and even after I had to stop working, music was, and is, (after family) the single most important part of my life, even more so now I can't walk more than 20 to 30 feet before I seize up in pain. My Hi-Fi was the most important thing I owned and It was on most of the day, using my Mission Speakers and QED wiring, and most of the night too, using my Sony WH-1000XM4 and WH-1000XM5 headphones in wired mode. Sound is all. I recently played with a friends HiBy R3 Digital Audio Player, or DAP as they are known, and my mind was well and truly blown🤯🤪 I know it's a cliche, but after playing a tune, both at home for enjoyment and on the record decks while in a mix during a rave, you become so used to these tracks that you can tell people what sound comes in when, and what type of texture the bass has & what effects to expect. That all changed after listening to my favourite track "D.M.T." by Super group Shpongle (a combination of 2 famous Psy-Trance, or Goa, label bosses, producers & Dj's of T.I.P. & Twisted Recs, Simon Posford and Raja Ram). All of a sudden, my fave track became a completely new track to me, as though the London Philharmonic Orchestra dropped their instruments & swapped them for synths, computers, and all the other tools of the electronic music production world, and had re-wired the track as they would a classical piece with their usual instruments!! I hope this makes at least 5, because it made zero sense to me at that time.So I decided there & then that I was going to do one hell of a load of RESEARCH, buy myself nothing un-essential, save up, and eventually buy myself a DAP, and a good one at that. Not the best or top of the range, but the best mid-range player I could afford at the time. So it pleases me to welcome you to the Android run HiBy R4 with a 1.5Tb Micro SD card to save all that wonderful music in lossless FLAC format, 24Bit 192Khz where possible, but 16-24Bit 48Khz would do bare minimum. Now when I get these techy terms out, just ask Google & all will be revealed. This HiBy R4 is like a Walkman of the digital music player, and yes, it plays Mp3's and everything else for that matter. If you were to record (rip) the audio from a dvd or bluray and save it in the same format as is on the disc, yes, it will play that. It will play the "pure" audio files from recording studios called MQA for Master Quality Audio, and the Ultimate audio format DSD, which is 10+ times higher audio quality that the best CD'S and the R4 'unfolds' these files 16 times so you are listening to the purest music in portable form there is. I got mine in a Prime Day sale at a snip for £190!! I can't begin to get into the technical depths of this audio player, it's far too amazing. It has a Snapdragon octacore chip, 4xDAC's in-built, a crazy amount of Ram, 32 Gig of Rom, and will take up to a 2Tb Micro SD card! But it's the sound quality that will get you, whatever headphones you have, because the R4 has everything you need, including a class 1 amplifier, all in-built and on-board. It's changed my life and I have rediscovered brand new music that is decades old that I have been listening to since day 1,but I have only just heard the music as it was made to be heard since playing it on this pocket sized little beauty of a music player. I'll stop now as I could sing it's praises forever. Feed it with electronic, be it Drum & Bass or Dark/Space Ambient, or Folk to Rock/Metal, whatever you give it, it will show you just how much of the composition you have been missing all this time, and how wide the soundstage is and how high the ceiling goes, letting each sound Breathe, to how low the floor is, letting the deepest of deep low frequencies be free to actually play a musical note that you feel as well as hear, with all the textures that Basslines should bring, not just throw up a rumbling distorted mess of undiscernable sound! Set your music free, and treat yourself to a HiBy R4, you'll thank yourself for it 🎧 🎼 🎵 🎶 😍❤️ 🎸🎹🎤🎻🕉️☯️🌈✨
