come a long way from here...
I didnt actually buy these books for myself, I bought them for my sister who is grieving for her lost dog, I read them many years ago and was totally absorbed by the brilliant characterisation and depth of storytelling, so much did I live in the stories, that when I finally finished it took me a few days to reorient myself to the world of..Now..Subsequently I have read everything written by Robin Hobb and virtually the entire genre of fantasy that my local library has to offer...So yes, I loved them and wouldnt hesitate to recommend to anyone needing escape in another wonderfull world, or anyone that just likes fantasy.

Fantasy yet with values and emotions that can be related to today
I have recently found Robin Hobb and the books completely fascinating and the detail of the writing is incredible. For me the fantasy world is so compelling that I really want to read the books at the exclusion of everything else. If you love fantasy wrapped in with the feelings and trials and emotions of the life a the main charter Fitz. (which apply to us all even in the modern day ) you will love this trilogy. I am going to get every one of the Robin Hobb books - addicted

Truly Outstanding
Very rarely these days do you come accross a genuinely 5 star book/trilogy.The author pulls you into the story in such a way that you feel that you're living and experiencing every breath of the lead character Fitz. You anguish over his pain and woes and celebrate his successes. It takes a magical and gifted author to make you forget that you're reading a book and instead you are part of the story.I highly recommend this trilogy.

Amazing ideas, history and characters - made tediously humdrum by endless pages of not a lot!
As a longtime fantasy reader I was inspired to get the Farseer Trilogy by the countless 5 star reviews. In the end, I found myself racing through page after page of tedious writing to get to the end... to save waffling, here's my quick take...Pros:* Believable fantasy world* Characters you can empathise with (on the whole)* Interesting development of "magic" (Skill and Wit)* Great insights into the protagonists mind, thinking, fears etc...* Laudable story arc - with some reasonably good historical background etc.Cons* Why use 10 words, when you can use 1000? Serously, this is the biggest fault of the whole series. Too wordy by far. Endless pages where nothing much happens but we have more plodding narrative or thoughts.* Final book was basically 100's of pages of "not much going on but we're getting there!" - only to be too rushed at the end...* Final ending (won't spoil what creatures were awakened!) were a bit "Deus ex Machina"* Villain was a missed opportunity - he's almost invisible for 99% of book... and his "redemption" is just skimmed over in a few pages... nonsense.Overall - a worthy saga, with some incredible ideas and opportunities - but man does it drag.

A brilliant writer
I couldn't put these books down. I am now reading the Liveship books, which are equally exciting.

Great books, but received British copies?
This isn't a review of the books, but the product itself. That being said, I have been enjoying my read through this series so far. The paperbacks are good quality, undamaged, and just as pictured — no inconsistent or mismatched covers. What was strange though is that, partway through my read, I noticed British spellings (such as "harbour", "endeavour", etc), and I was confused as Hobb is an American author, and I hadn't seen those spellings in the book when I borrowed the first one from my library. I looked at the back and, lo and behold... I somehow received British copies? Not sure how that happened, having ordered from the US. Very odd. Didn't affect the read, save for the addition of a couple of extra "u"s (lol). Still good quality product.

Satisfaite
Juste le dessus au niveau de la reliure du livre 3 un peu abimé. Sinon les délais étaient respectés et les livres de bonne qualité.

Great Read
We read this trilogy, then every other book by this author. Donated all of the books when finished and realised that I want to circle back and read these again. I’ll be keeping them this time.

OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!
The Farseer Trilogy is outstanding fantasy writing, by every measure. The entire series; which includes The Tawney Man Trilogy and the Fitz And The Fool Trilogy; covers the life story of Fitzchivalry Farseer, bastard son of Prince Chivalry Farseer. Abandoned by his original family to the care of the Farseers, six year old Fitz is given over to the Stablemaster; Burrich; to raise. Once Fitz comes to the attention of King Shrewd, it is decided that Fitz needs to be put to a useful purpose, so he is sent to Chade Fallstar; another Farseer bastard; and trained to be an assassin. The first three books follow Fitz as he grows into manhood, practices his art as an assassin, and gets to know the residents of the castle. His special friend is the Fool, and much of what takes place in these books, centers around that friendship. There are two magic systems in this story; the Wit and the Skill. Fitz possesses them both. The Wit allows the user to develop a companion bond to an animal, and indeed, people who possess the Wit cannot help but be drawn to make a bond. Yet, the Wit is is discouraged and socially offensive to non users. Despite this, Fitz bonds with a wolf cub, that he rescues from a hateful captivity, and this relationship is sustained throughout the first six books. We get to follow Fitz as he makes his way in the world, encountering extremely dangerous situations in his work for the King, and we feel his pain as battle wounds, fatigue, age, and disappointment take their toll. Still, Fitz is surrounded by people who love and cherish him, even though he is not always aware of it. His role as assassin; and the life of secrecy that demands; and his choice to be Wit bonded, means that he lives a life that is largely isolated from those who would offer their love and support. Robin Hobb's writing style is unparalleled. It is easy to read, draws the reader in, and makes you love and deeply care about all of the characters; Fitz, Nighteyes, Burrich, Chade, the Fool, Patience, King Shrewd, Verity, and more. Her world building is superb. This is a story for the Ages, one to return to again and again. You can't consider yourself any kind of expert on fantasy literature until you've read these books.
