yes it has an integral battery, which will last several hours, when its not being charged by the car charger lead, i have used mine for best part of a day without charging, this Tom Tom is very good value and works extremely well, very easy to operate and picks up GPS straight away, plus you can pre load your destination from your phone, jump in turn on and off you go.

Yes The different voices have different tasks. Some just tell you to turn. Some also indentify the roads / streets etc.

Yes, it can be removed from the mount (it is like a ball socket made of rubberised material). It pops off and on without too much trouble. You won't be able to fix the supplied mount to the dash without superglue, since it only has a sucker that won't stick to anything much aside glass. You can buy a stick-on mount from TomTom, which would be the ideal solution, but it is pretty expensive for what it is. There are probably unbranded alternatives too.
