I enjoyed this book, nice change from a chocolate calendar and good to have a mix of types of challenges with the QR codes bringing visual challenges as well as verbal. Some days were easy but others a real challenge where I needed the Elf's help.The magic detector was a bit inconsistent in whether it worked, but that only affected a couple of days.I'd be keen to do another of their books

I wanted something different for advent this year and this didn't disappoint. I enjoyed the thought out story line and that some puzzles were very logical and word based but others were interactive games. The use of the online help function is great too. It doesn't give too many hints all at once so allows you to have a bit of help without ruining that day for you.The only day I didn't like was the riddle day. Even if you knew the answer if you worded it slightly differently it said incorrect. For instance the answer could have been 'sun' but if you put 'the sun' it said wrong. This was slightly infuriating. That and depending on your country of origin you could also get a few wrong.Other than that a brilliant book and I hope for another one next year.

From reading some of the other reviews on here a lot of people seem to be forgetting this is supposed to be a bit of fun. I am enjoying the combination of puzzles I know and chances to learn something new. Will definitely be getting another next year and hopefully multiple so me and my friends can all do it together. Oh and to the very considerate person who gave the answers away at the end SPOILER ALERT! Merry Christmas you Grinch.

Day 1. if you do not know anything about constellations be warned you will get no help from ElI the helper in the game. It just says to be more precise with your query. The are no mini puzzles on this day. I had just randomly submitted the answer. Very disappointed no clues, no help, and no mini games or puzzles as promised. After giving the correct answer and looking up the answer. I still cannot work it out in the book. Already thinking I won’t be doing day 2 and continuing with this. Terrible game.

A well written and so far well thought out book.Am on day 3 and loving it.Am feeling very tempted to skip ahead but the wife is keeping me in check.If you like puzzles then I would highly recommend this book.Update.... Finished the book and thoroughly enjoyed it beginning to end.I needed help on one of the puzzles but I was going about it the wrong way..Really enjoyable..... Can't wait for next year's.

Clues referring to dates needed to be in American (mmdd) rather than British. One of the days required answers to riddles, where one answer requires you to say "an <answer>" and another will tell you you have the wrong answer if you include the "a <answer>".The hints are useless (just tell you part of the answer rather than helping you to get it) and there were days where we were just disappointed in the answer. There was no reward for answering/playing most of the days, and no reason to actually complete them

My other half is loving the puzzles in this, working out the clues and using his knowledge of the stars. It’s so good I have sent one to my friend who loves this sort of thing too! Great new twist on t advent calendar! Good value
