Dialogue is a bit choppy (lots of conversations and they all include highly repetitive instances of “he said”; it gets annoying when reading aloud).When I found out the topic of this book was bullying, I was concerned about reading it to my child (4 years old) because I thought they may have been really mean, and at one point, I thought they were going to discuss body image issues, and that’s not something I’d like to introduce to my child (I can see her thinking, “why is she concerned about her weight? Maybe I should be concerned about mine”), but it was more about exclusionary practices and how you can’t judge a book by its cover, and that being mean to people hurts their hearts. I think it was well done in a way that teaches young children not to bully without teaching them ways to bully.The little girl who was being bullied never said anything to anybody, however, so I would have liked a lesson about the importance of telling an adult, but with a slightly older child, you could always incorporate a conversation about “what would have happened if they hadn’t spied and figured out she was being bullied” and lead a child to realize that she could have told the camp counselors (and she could’ve started having fun before the second to last day of camp had she said something early).I just remembered that in the fantasy world, there’s a boy being bullied because he looks different, and that portion does discuss asking for help, but he never got help because even the adults bullied him, so he just hid in the woods all day, every day. I wasn’t very happy with that lesson, but I think the author’s point was the importance of helping people when you have the chance and not being the bully, rather than what to do when you’re the one being bullied. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Valuable moral in it! *by A***K on April 21, 2019* I voluntarily read this book after receiving a free copy. This book tells two stories at once but both stories have a great moral that teaches against bullying. Being a teacher, I have seen bullying all too many times. I love books that contain moral teaching. It was a little confusing to jump back and forth between the two stories but the end helped the it together. It did not have big words that young children chapter books often contain. After reading this book, I will be sure to read it to my children to make sure they catch the moral. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Interesting how lessons are taught here *by C***H on April 20, 2019* This book was simple, but with some very good lessons. I like how the girls worked together to help and learn from each other, and in the other world too. I wish I knew the other stories about Moon that were before this one, but I do like what I read. And the lesson with the boxes is a good one that we can even use today.
