Does it automatically go to sleep when not in use?** A: To avoid distractions while driving (unless it is used for some other purposes) the camera is connected to the reversing lamp at the rear of the vechile, which when engaged sends power to the camera unit (which should be mounted in a pre-determined location) which gives the driver an optimal view of the rear when reversing. Nevertheless it is always best to use your own judgement which u would have used, if u had no rear camera.
