The complete three seasons of the Emmy-nominated Danish crime drama created by Søren Sveistrup. In the first series, Detective Inspector Sarah Lund (Sofie Gråbol) is all set to emigrate to Sweden but her plans are put on hold when the police investigation into the murder of a young girl in Copenhagen turns out to have implications in high places. Each episode chronicles a single day in the investigation, which gradually brings a tangled web of corrupt politics and power struggles to light as the hunt for the killer intensifies. In the second series, set two years later, Lund, who has since been demoted from DI, is called into the homicide department to help her former colleagues on a tricky murder case. Initially reluctant, Lund soon gets involved and discovers that the victim was killed because she knew about the deaths of Afghan citizens at the hands of Danish soldiers. In the third and last series, having found peace after her previous ordeals, Lund has her curiosity ignited when she notices a tattoo on the victim of what seems to be a random murder at the Copenhagen docks. Attention is quickly drawn toward the Zeeland oil business run by the troubled Robert Zeuthen (Anders W. Berthelsen) whose daughter has been kidnapped, and an old flame of Lund's believes that both the kidnapping and murder may be connected to a possible assassination attempt on the prime minister.

Danish noir crime series totally absorbing!
Three series, first longest. I preferred 2 and 3. Lead actress Sarah Lund superlative in twisting nailbiting series. The only series I know to combine police with both local and national politics crimes. Really increases the tension with myriad twists and turns of who the culprit is. Sarah's insights and total focus to solve crimes reveal her strength of character. Top marks. Buy if you like noir. This is the very best!!!

Great but The Bridge is better.
3 series ...the 1st 20 episodes long.....brilliant but to too long. Too many twists & turns Which become the norm by episode 12.Series 2..excellent 12 episodes..much better..thrilling clever writing.Series 3 ...12 episodes...again excellent writing & the best of the trilogy...except the ending. Won't spoil anything. But following the intense & compelling character of Sarah Lund. The finale was an injustice & not only unexpected but unbelievable & unacceptable. But well worth watching ...see what you think. For me...the 4 series of The Bridge are far better for the plots & lead Detective Saga Noren !!!

Excellent Scandie Noir Series
I have still to watch season 3 but previous ones were complex and well thought out dramas. Great sense of tension builds in them as you try to avoid the red herrings

Slow and disappointing
The first series was extremely so long you lost the will to watch anymore and indeed left a gap of 2 months before attempting the 2nd series. This was better, the pace was faster was although feels a little dated was an ok watch. The 3rd series was ok, but the second disc of this series which contains 4 episodes was cracked down the middle! Because of the time lapsed before it was noticed I am unable to get a refund or exchange. So all in all it was a duff purchase. Quite disappointing in fact.If your looking for some real Nordic noir, The Bridge is fantastic.

Top notch thriller.
I'm three quarter ways through series one . Amazing twists & turns. Acting is sublime throughout. Incredible the skill of the writers to stretch one crime over 20 episodes & still be compelling all the way. Up there with 'The Bridge. '

Settle down to hours of great viewing
Probably the best of Nordic Noir come DVD’s closely matched by The Bridge. It’s compulsive viewing with great actors & a wonderful crime story line. Very highly recommended
